Hey guys, I'm doing a speech on online poker and we need primary sources. I figured-hey, there are a shitton of people here who play online poker for a living. So if anyone who is successful would want to answer some of these questions that would be amazing. Please include name, age, and where you live.
When did you start?
How much have you earned?
What site do you play at?
Why do you play online opposed to live (consistantly at least)?
How/Why did you get into it?
Thoughts on rercent U.S. legislation?
Anything else about online poker/poker in general

PokerStars and FullTilt
Hate cigarette smoke, can play whenever
Saw a PokerStars commercial during ESPN WSOP
It's a thinly veiled way for US B&M to gain a strong foothold in the industry.
Too many players think it's an easy way to get rich without realizing the the intelligence, drive, and emotional control required to excel. These same traits could also lead one to even bigger success in other endeavors. The one advantage online poker offers is that it's easy to "pay your dues" in a short time frame.

Started damn...freshman year in college. That'd be what, September 2004?
Probably right around $5000
Like 90% of my roll is no longer offshore (and neteller has like 8%, way to go neteller). So my last two percent is at stars. I much prefer Full Tilt's interface, though.
More hands per hour, the ability to play two tables at once. The fact that I'm not yet 21 so I can't legally play live anyway
Played for shits and giggles with some buddies, luckboxed my way to money, and thought 'hah. I can make money at this.' Boy, was I ever wrong at first. I started learning at pokertips.org, and then somebody sent me here to FTR, where I learned about the game more and refined my play
Recent US legislation blows. I've switched over from poker to sportsbetting and this is KILLING the sportsbetting industry. It's ridiculous. I hope the experts are right and that everything gets repealed and the scene dies down in a few years (2-3). 'Cause this is ridiculous.
Poker is a lot harder than it looks. But the skills you have to learn in order to master it apply to many other things in life; in fact, most things in life. If you can be successful at poker, chances are you can be successful doing other things.

~$8k
FT & PS
Can play multiple tables online, listen to music, not leave my house.
Home games, found FTR, was hooked.
Ridiculous. It may be a few years, but eventually online poker will be legal and regulated in the US, imo. Before that happens, I think it will only get more difficult for sites to stay in business and players to stay profitable.
