I'm not sure if I'm going to get a definitive answer on this but I'm thinking of buying a notebook for xmas and for all the members here that knows a thing or two about laptops which is the best investment for my money considering the fact that I'll be wanting to play poker and do some design work on my laptop.

I had a powerbook G4 667 and loved it. It's pretty impractical for poker play though since only a couple of sites have Mac software. If I wanted to play any amount of poker on a laptop, it would be a wintel machine.

PC notebook gives you way more options for online poker and can run the same design software you would use on your mac. I'd go with PC.

This is the first time I've heard of a wintel machine. Can you elaborate??

I am also a designer. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects on a regular basis. Macs are cute and all, but they don't play poker. Here's what I got. And I'm thrilled with it.

Wintel = Windows + Intel

Windows OS on an Intel processor, i.e., "PC"

I perfer Macs for all my Adobe work and general ease of use but they don't play poker. So I dug up a Gateway Pentium 3 I got when I went to college over 7 years ago to play poker on. Any Piece of shit PC can run poker software. Basically it comes down to preference and you certainly don't need an Apple unless your editing/rendering video (and then you wouldn't get a laptop anyway).
