not sure where else to look yet, so I decided to try the vast knowledge base of my fellow FTRers...
I was just feeding my 2 year old son a Kid Cuisine, when I came across what looked like some kind of animal feces. I took pictures and saved the uneaten parts, WTF do I do now? I don't think the part my son was eating came in direct contact with what I found, but that is still some nasty shit. Should I be concerned for his health? I don't have a lawyer... yet... but I'm ready to take some kind of action, just want to think about what I need to do before I make any rash decisions.... Any resources / advice would be greatly appreciated...

Kid Cuisine?!?! Come on man... You should breast feed your child until the age of 13 at least. Some may frown on breast feeding until puberty, but my mom did and look how I turned out.
It sounds like your kid is spoiled anyways. Back in my time we'd be thrilled to get such a prize with our frozen dinner. We didn't even get as much as a single rat pellet though. Kids these days...

Contact the manufacturer. Be nice and work with them. I doubt you'd have much of a legal case with an opened container, but I'm not a lawyer.
I would guess that they would want the lot number and would take quality control measures. Probably mail you a coupon.

Take it to a university near you to get it identified. If/when they confirm that it is, in fact, some kind of animal feces, then consider taking action through a lawyer and/or the media. The makers of this stuff would not want it becoming public

I wouldn't be too concerned about his health, especially if he didn't actually eat it. The fact is that he has more than likely already consumed worse. Kids stick their fingers in all kinds of orifices and put anything in their mouths. Because of poor hygeine and poor processing or handling of food, people regularly come into contact with fecal matter although it is typically in more discrete forms than actual turds. I assume that microwaving the meal long enough to heat it from a frozen state would be enough to kill anything pathogenic anyways.
Regardless, that is some nasty shit, no pun intended. Like Fnord said, I don't see how you'd prove a case with an opended package, but I have no legal training either. If you're concerned enough to take action then the first thing I'd do is verify that what you found is actually feces, as was also mentioned. In the mean time I'd feed your kid something else, like your wife's titty.

If it was in the can, it was most likely sterilized at some point during the canning process.

Assuming you cooked it thoroughly, it should be ok healthwise...but talk to his pediatrician ASAP.
I think it goes without saying that you should never use that product again, but I think there are better options out there anyway, feces or no feces.
RE: the post that said Fnord gave terrible advice: it's generally preferable to give an alternative than to flatly dismiss someone else's suggestion.

yeah, didn't want to call them first, cause of course they would try to down play the whole thing. My wife called a lawyer friend of hers last night and one of his partners will be looking into it sometime this morning. He seemed very anxious to jump on this. We will be taking him to the doctor today, and getting the "object" analyzed to be sure... I honestly think he's fine, but just want to go through the necessary steps.
It was a Kid Cuisine frozen pizza dinner, and it was actually underneath the pizza itself, kind of embedded into the bottom of it. I wonder if tests can be run to prove that it was actually stored and frozen with the pizza itself? I'll keep ya'll updated...
Thx for that link Muxy, and roffle roffle NutsInYoEYE...

ooh... that wasnt the question...
seriously though, feed your kid some real food, no offense I dont want to be rude by telling your how to raise your kid. Its just.. well starting them off on microwave dinners at age 2 is a bit much isnt it? I know it seems fast and convient, but I think people overestimate the time and effort needed to whip up something atleast mildly healthy.
GL with the lawyer thing and all though.

I hear ya man... We're trying, but my wife and I are two people who have always eaten nothin but junk all the time. We're tying to break the habit and cook more often, if not for us then for the little one. We're getting better, slowly but surely.
Slight update, the original lawyer we talked wasn't sure about taking the case, so we are getting the "object" independently tested ourselves to be sure what it is. Once we are sure what it is, there may be other lawyers out there willing to help us. My wife isn't letting this one go.

Did you find a finger in your chile also?
On a serious note, stop feeding your kid garbage, and you won't have to worry about finding shit in it.

I find it comical that the ones giving the parenting advice aren't much past the age of being kids themselves. So the guy gave his child a kid cuisine. So what? As long as it isn't what he is fed routinely then it really isn't a big deal. If I picked a random meal within the last few days that one of you guys ate I'm sure there is a good chance that it would be some kind of fast food or similar crap.

Dealing with children often, and now a pregnant wife, I can say that eating well is often a luxury. You have to get the time to cook, and find the small portion of foods that they will actually eat. And Kid Cuisine isn't as bad as half the crap we all eat. Working as a chef I can attest that the same chemicals found in frozen dinners are found in more items than you think.
As for the item itself. If it is poo, there is no doubt that a disgruntled worker put it there. And since most of the major assembly lines don't have people in contact with the food. It's seems just as likely that something stuck in the oven, burned, then stuck to the bottom of the next pizza.

I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

I really wouldn’t be concerned about your childs health. Germs are a dime a dozen and this was likely sterialized by heat anyway. The substance in the poo wouldn’t hurt him much if at all.
As for leagal proceedings….get over it. You aren’t getting paid on this and you shouldn’t be. Stop thinking they owe you something.
