very exciting fight, reminds me of a hockey fight. I went down to watch the two last pride fighting championships , and the last one i went to had henderson vs silva which was great but also nick diaz vs takanori gomi, and that fight was very similar to this in that it had some crazy exchages and had the crowd on its feet i've never experienced anything like the intensity and electricity that was going through the building during round one of that fight. i'm sure theres a good youtube vid for it as well.

Anyone want to try? I'll give a few free lessons to anyone who can make it out to Hawaii. I owe the posters here that much.
Also,
Couldn't see the video (at work), Kimbo's a bitch, Uriah Faver is a badass, and MMA rocks your world.

HAHA!! He's gotta catch my ass first. In all seriousness though, Kimbo was one of the original MMA fighters, and that dude whooped some ass. Did you see the Kimbo-vs-Tank fight? Tank looked like a pussy.
Though, Kimbo can't seem to train a decent prodigy. They all get the shit beat out of them.
Also, I live in K-bay.

I have no idea where K-bay is, but have u trained with Relson or Penn?
I wouldnt consider Kimbo one of the original MMA fighters. Original back alley street fighter sure. But he had no ground game till he started training with Rutten.

Rutten definately was his kick into professional competitive fighting, but street fighting is a technique that is actually taught as a martial art. It's used by a lot of fighters in the MMA circuit. Kimbo was the biggest underground competitor in the western hemisphere back in what, '98? He may not have been one of the first MMA fighters, but he was definately one of the first to bring it from the street to the cage.
I have never trained with either of them personally (not close to that level), but I did a stint of training at the Relson Gracie Kaneohe chapter. Ronn Shiraki runs it.

Sakuraba versus Renzo Gracie

Enjoy. Fantastic fight that ends unexpectedly and brutally. Sakuraba is one of the legends of MMA, right up alongside BJ Penn and Wanderlei Silva.

I'm a huge fan of MMA as well. Recently I started studying some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Montreal and it's been an awesome experience. Georges St. Pierre (former UFC Titleholder) as well as some other ufc guys are in the gym i take classes at sometimes and it's pretty amazing the level of athlete that they are. Georges for example trains his jiu jitsu where I train (except i train with fellow noobs), then he trains his boxing at another place with world class Montreal boxers, then his wrestling with the Canadian national wrestling team etc...
Makes one dimensional sports look easy

One thing I don't love about MMA is the steroids. Here's a list of confirmed juicers.
Josh Barnett
Royce Gracie
Shawn Sherk
Hermes Franca
Tim Sylvia
Stephan Bonnar
Kimo
Kevin Randleman
Mark Kerr, Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Vitor Belfort, Phil Baroni are all known to have taken steroids as well.

You meant Josh Barnett, but was posting to note that his case was proved to be a false positive -- that's also why his win over Randy Couture hasn't ever been changed to a no contest I believe.
There is steroid abuse in all sports.

It's definitely not a brawl. The old UFCs used to be pretty much NoHoldsBarred, but in recent years more rules have been integrated in. Also, some organizations apply a few different variations (i.e. in Japan they don't usually allow elbow strikes but they do allow soccer kicks to the head and knees to the head while on the ground).
The rules that are usually enforced in North America include no groin strikes, no knees or kicks to the head while on the ground. No eye gouging, no strikes to the back of the head. No kicking to the head of a downed opponent (soccer kicks). Hmm..probably are more but that's all I can think of.
It's definitely not a 'brawl', or at least it's much less a brawl than it used to be given how most successfull MMA fighters train insane amounts of time in different aspects of the sport (that don't involve punching i.e. BJJ, Judo, Wrestling). The referee can stand the fight back up for inactivity on the ground also. Ok i'm sure other people can chime in with better info than me.
But gather up a few friends on a saturday night and get a Pay-Per-View and enjoy. Betting on fights (even if you don't know the fighters) adds to the excitement.

Does it bug you that Bonds is about to break the all time homerun record in baseball with the use of such substances? I'm really not sure where I stand. I don't mind that players use them as it still takes great skill to perform at professional levels. Yet, it bugs me when old records are busted by guys that are juiced up.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
