My understanding, gabe, is that Mono can lead to Hepatitis, but in the "inflammation of the liver" sense - Hep C is a specific illness and is caused by a different virus.
Hepatitis, in this sense, is not a chronic condition and is a symptom of the EBV that causes mono. It can cause permanent liver damage, but it is very different from Hep C.

so when I was a freshman in college, I was dating this girl for like a year and a half and I was going to go to her delta zeta formal. I felt like death that night and just couldn't go. later found out that I had mono, and got it from her (?????). then I started going to school during the day and baseball practice at night + commuting twice a day and it was pretty far, so I didn't get to see her much. yadayada she dumped me.
since we're both huge ballas, something bad HAS to happen to you. I predict you go busto. we'll see though.

Biondino is correct. Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease, but the term hepatitis simply refers to inflammation of the liver. It can be caused by things such as viruses like Hep. A-E or Ebstein-Barr(your mono), metabolic disorders, toxins (alcohol, pharmaceuticals, etc). Hepatitis can be a symptom of mono, but you misunderstood your doctor if he said you could specifically get Hep. C
