I played my first $11.00 S&G yesterday after grinding out the $5.50’s to get my BR to the adequate level. I took second and was happy when I scoped the players that were in the tournie and the guy that went out in 3rd is DAMN good. Like a 26% ROI and + $4000 bucks. I do wonder why the hell he is still playing the $11’s but that’s another story. Anyway, went to bed thinking I might post my result as it was a bit of a confidence boost to get that first one out of the way and do well. I realize there are still some bad players at the $11.00 level. But then the last thought in my head before I drifted off to sleep was the responses I would get from the veterans on the site. Nice job but just remember it is just 1 game, get a good sample size and then you can judge where you are at. Then I drifted off to dream land… A land that quickly turned menacing as my real life insecurities invaded my restful sleep. In my nightmare I was haunted by quickly flashing scenes from my life, embarrassing or uncomfortable moments that changed to incorporate my biggest fear now that I am an adult…. Sample size.

Flash--- Gym class, 7th Grade, skinny white kid in a mostly black jr. high, the first day, the first shower. Jeers from the brothers “ Shit Maurice, check out the sample size on the white boy, I saw my mom changing my baby brother this morning and I think my baby bro has him beat”. Much laughter at my expense…..

Flash--- Freshman Dance 9th grade. My parents have to unexpectedly go out of town taking the nice car. I am stuck picking up my date in a 68 ford pick-up with no heat ( Its October ) . I show up at the door and she looks out and says “ If you think I’m going to the dance with someone who has THAT sample size you are friggin nuts…. Much embarrassment at my expense….

Flash---- Going to get a loan for my first car. Banker tells me with my sample size there is no way they can loan me that much

Flash--- I’m now old, laying in a hospital bed, I am aware of loved ones around me and a sense of sadness. I can’t open my eyes or respond but I hear them… “Poor Kirk, the doctor said his sample size just can’t support him anymore, its only a matter of time now”

I wake in a cold sweat……..

So now I have gone from having a dream to I HAVE A DREAM…..

I dream of a day when we as noob poker players won’t be judged because we are bitching that we have just broke even and we have played 2K hands. That right noobs, your damn right it sucks, sample size be damned!!!!!!!!

I dream of a day when we can say “ I just won my first 2 S&G tourneys, my ROI is 245%, I’m moving up to 200NL”. Damn right you should, with numbers like that you are ready for the big leagues brother.

I dream of a day when we are no longer persecuted, looked down on, or otherwise dismissed because we have lives, and jobs, and women and can’t geek out in front of 7 monitors and lock in to the matrix like some of the Vets do. WE ARE PEOPLE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I officially open this thread to all small sample sized folks like me that just want a place where we can be us. We can talk about anything, the only rule is sample size is never to be discussed in relation to us, we can discuss villains sample size but ours is a non issue.

It is our place, the SSSnake pit, the SSS of course representing small sample size.

Welcome to the pit brothers and sisters, be fre!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for SSS, one reason I'm glad that SSS is ridiculed is because if it wasn't - there would be a lot more bad beat and brag threads/posts.

I was in a casino playing some sort of blackjack, which I hate and find incredibly boring. It was weird though, first there were two kids from highschool that I didnt particularly like playing at my table and second for some reason I had my own deck of cards and I was choosing which cards to play. I dont remember if I was winning or losing.

I went out side and my brother pulled up, I handed him a gun I had been holding for him. We made sure that the security cameras saw it so that I didnt get accused of the crime when the gun was used. He drove off shooting out of his car but people didnt react at all how they should have. After like 5 minutes they were all like "hey, what those were gun shots or something?"

one time i was playing a home game with my friends, except they weren't dealing cards. instead i got 2 slabs of lunch meat. i don't know how i determined what my hand was, but i knew those pieces of meat were good. however, one of my buds went all-in utg, and it folded around to someone else who reshoved. i asked how much he had, and he said lots, which was a correct assessment. it was just then that i noticed we weren't using chips, but had huge steaks, and slimy piles of roast in front of us. for some reason, this seemed normal! the stack in front of him was enormous, about 3 feet wide and 4 feet high. i would have had to call all-in, so i threw away my slices of turkey and waited for a better spot.

also, while we're on the topic of dreams, who here has or can have lucid dreams? i've been reading up on them a lot lately and have had a few since. it's simply amazing. basically it's dreaming, but you're aware that you're dreaming, so essentially you can do anything you want, without boundaries.

When I was in the hospital drugged way the fuck up I had the worst dream of my life.

I was in like a giant train station(well a giant building like a train station) the ceiling was like 100ft high and there were hundreds of people but everything was gray. Everyone was shuffling along and everyone was dead except for these guard type guys. So I was walking around and went into a room and it was a huge room and there was hundreds of people sitting on benches all gray and dead. At this point I started to freak out on some level because I thought I wasn't dreaming and I was dead. I thought I was like in purgatory or something, and I really really did think this while having this dream. I tried to run and the guards came and they held me down. And I was trying to scream and struggle but I couldn't.

And to make everything better when I did wake up I had sleep paralysis for about 5 minutes. At least I think I did might have been more of the dream.

Thinking you died is not fucking fun at all. Like I am agnostic but if there was like a purgatory the place I saw was it.

my g/f remembers all of her dreams. she says if you tell yourself to remember them when you wake up in the morning you will. i tried it and turns out she's right. still, I need to write them down 'cause I don't seem to be able to remember them for very long.

Gold fold, you are a sirloin flip at best, but it could have been a Chop, or a split pot roast, with steaks that high. noone likes a bad meat story.

incidentally your dream was similar to mine in that the protagonist was betting with inappropriate materials- does this mean something?

I have them sometimes. Well Its not exactly like Im on the halodeck able to tell the computer to change the program at will. But I do have a will and am able to exert it in ways that go beyond real life. The problem is that I am not fully conscious and so my desires and therefore my will is far more whimsical than what it would be if I had the power in real life. Its almost like living through fear and loathing in las vegas, but youre writing the script, as opposed to other dreams where youre just watching the movie. So like other dreams the happenings are still strange and out there.

I can lucid dream, and am capapble of replicating pretty often.

It takes a lot of work, and your dogshit tired all the time. If you want to know how, I'll bore you with the details.

i wake up much more refreshed when i have a lucid dream and not more tired. but yes, does take a lot of work. i try to write down all my dreams every night, helps in remembering them. also just asking yourself at random times "am i dreaming?" helps you subconsciously ask yourself while sleeping.
