AOL System Msg (5:34:54 PM): Your screen name (Rich Gambler) is now signed into AOL(R) Instant Messenger (TM) in 2 locations. To sign off the other location(s), reply to this message with the number 1. Click here for more information.
Rich Gambler (5:37:14 PM): what is this
AOL System Msg (5:37:14 PM): AOL System Msg menu:
To manage your Instant Messaging sessions, choose an option below by responding with the option's number (1 or 2).
1. Sign off my AIM sessions connected from other locations (this will not disconnect my AOL sessions)
2. Tell me how many times I'm currently signed on.
Rich Gambler (5:37:52 PM): 1
AOL System Msg (5:37:52 PM): Your other AIM sessions have been signed-off. You are now signed-on from 1 location(s).
It is probably nothing to worry about, but I am a bit paranoid. wtf - is someone trying to hack me or I am already hacked? I wasn't connected from other locations.

Change your password first, obv.
Second, mine used to do this to me all the time when it would disconnect and then reconnect or something.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

I get this message all the time when I leave my AIM logged in at home and then I sign in from school on my laptop at work. Are you sure you didn't leave your screenname logged in anywhere else? I also have AIM connected through my Gmail account so if I have my gmail account logged in I get the same message.

Aol System Msg is actually from AOL, the only thing that might be compromised is your AIM password. If it happens again, just change your password(or now) otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

i have a desktop and laptop that i both frequently use, and i used to get this message but not anymore.
anyway, changing your pw isn't a "just in case", it's an absolute given.
the just in case part would be reformatting your computer, and if you have a significant amount of money online, or you use your credit card online, i would do that.

I changed password. spoonit, this happens to you when internet disconnects? My internet probably didn't discconnect in like 2 months (until today), so I guess it has probably something to do with that and nothing to worry about?

If your internet disconnected today then that's almost certainly the cause - the old AIM session wasn't signed out of successfully so they think you're trying to log on from a second location. I also get this all the time when I to sign on to aimPro without signing out of the normal aim client.
Does anyone know if they show you the connected IP's if you hit "2"? If so, do that next time and see if there's a connection from another ip than yours (if your internet was disconnected then the ip might have changed, but it should be similar up until probably the last 3 digits. If it isn't remotely close then someone is logged on to your account from elsewhere and you should get ultra paranoid and wipe everything then change passwords.
Oh and btw- you obviously shouldnt use the aim password anywhere else, so even if your account is compromised it's not a huge worry. Still reformat and change the other passwords just in case, though.

Ahh, is that what it is? I stopped using AIM because it started doing this within minutes of me signing up .
