What a bunch of haters.. lol . This isnt a brag post. But then again, I am not really proud about it. I happier that I could pay an Attorney 3K for something that was unfortunate and somewhat irresponsible.

1. I blew a 0.10 - .002 over.
2. I was hanging out with a buddy I havent seen since the War.
3. I made a U turn in my 2005 Dodge and it fishtailed and I got pulled.
4. I had one as in ... ONE more beer than I should , on my way home.

So for all of you who think I was totally wasted on a death wish .. Its not the case. I love all the haters, dont lie .. You have driven before after a little too much.

This is where having money, and good reputation, and being nice to a State Trooper pays off.

Who says that I am not a waste to society and have done something productive with my life? As opposed to a 3-4th time offense kind of person who has been in and out of jail throughout their life. I knew and admitted I was wrong. My attorney however; pleaded my case to the DA and presented it in such a way to where I wouldnt have to do anything. He said stuff like .. He did ten years in the military and thats shit you and I wont do .. And shit I dont want my kids doing 5-10 years from now. Somebody actually respected what I did and helped out. As opposed to the due proccess bullshit people usually go through .

Wrong. I did, however, get a phone call two days ago that a friend's dad just got killed by a drunk driver, so it was pretty exciting to log on this morning and see someone bragging about getting off for it. I've used public transportation or a designated driver every single time I've been anywhere near the legal limit. Just because you're an ass, don't assume that everyone else is one.

Sure you did, that's why you're on here bragging about how awesome you are and saying "everyone does it" which is the worst excuse ever. The fact that you're making that excuse leads me to believe that you've done this more than a few times already and just happened to get caught this time. I wish the government would just confiscate anyone's car who got caught driving drunk, then maybe people would think twice before they did it.

i agree with u mcatdog, but u are taking it a little too far i think. I have had two beers and then driven a fair amount. I think we all have. The legal limit is like any other rule or law, its watered down to the point of ridiculousness just to safeguard against the 2% of America that is actually impaired after that much to drink.

This isn't to condone fasin's situation at all, from what i recall he was swerving and doing donuts and shit. Thats just fucking retarded.

Point is, the legal limit is also retarded. Drinking and driving should be handled on more of a case by case than it is.

Iam sorry for your lost. I offered in my plea to donate 500.00 to MADD. Call me an ass if you want. The entire point of this was ... Or should have been .

"You are one lucky SOB for getting off. Thats all."

Nothing to be proud of, however... I just saved a shit load of money by hiring a great defense attorney. This is more or less why I am awesome. Had I been a dumbass and just accepted the bullshit public defender who works basically for the DA ... This wouldnt have happened. My regards to your friend. That sucks, but dont stereotype my situation to someone who comitted vehicular manslaughter. I also think .002 over the limit given the circumstances is a little ridiculous IMO.

First off, it's not .002 over, it's .02.

.02/.08 = .25, which means you were 25% more than was legally allowed.

This should not be something you're proud of, and don't try to rationalize it by saying something like 'oh. it was just .002 over', especially when that's not even true.

.10 means that 10% of your blood was alcohol at that point. Think about that for a second.

(A BAC of ³ 0.080 is
legally intoxicated in MOST states).

So your saying...

200lbs person
.019
.038
.056 = 3 drinks... 56 % of his blood is filled with Alcohol?
.075

Fasin8ing,

Thanks for your concern, I don't know the guy that well anymore though. He was one of my best friends in grade school and junior high but we hung out with different crowds in high school and haven't kept in touch very much since we graduated. I was still pretty upset to hear about what happened to his dad.

Ensign,

It's not 10%, it's .10% i.e. 1/1000. There's no way a person could survive with even 1% of their blood being alcohol.

Yeah dude.. Iam not like .. Fuck .. Its cool to drink and drive.

I rarely drive after more than 3 drinks anyways. I fixed my post. My attorney is awesome.. Because I was definetly in the wrong. No matter if it was .0001 over. All I was implying is that ... The legal system has some leaks.. I was fortunate. I havent driven after drinking since. People need little reminders sometimes to not be stupid. I happen to be one of those people. I have lost a friend drinking and driving and one that got killed by one.

i'll be the first to say it. Congratulations

One thing I hate about Australia. Our legal limit is only 0.05 and we have road blocks (called in Aussie lingo "booze busses") set up everywhere. So lets say the rebellious part of me is glad that you won a victory over the establishment.

That said I hope you don't continue to put other people's lives at risk. I'm all for abolishing laws for victimless crimes like drug possession - I mean if you wanna kill yourself I don't care. Just don't kill me and my family while you're at it.

You guys realize that something ridiculous like 85% of drunk driving accidents are caused by people with an alcohol % over 0.2? Lowering the limit from 0.1 to 0.08 was retarded.

A writer for the Akron Beacon Journal did his own un-official study where him and a buddy went to the inventor's hall of fame and tested their response time, went to a bar had 4 beers each, came back and did it again. His buddy had a faster response the second time, they both did better than several other random testers who had consumed no alcohol.

Don't get me wrong, I think drunk driving is retarded, but having 4 drinks at happy hour shouldn't be a life altering offense.

FWIW, I was in a drunk driving accident (the sober side of a head-on collision on an interstate highway, so ~120 mph) where I almost died. Obv I didn't, but my ankle will bother me for the rest of my life (and will probably turn arthritic around 50).

dude.. its a bad thing to do, chill the fuck out coming down him though. Being violent to your spouse is wrong too, lolo ok not really but lets pretend so I can make my point, but it happens, but it still feels good if your wife stays with you and gives you another chance. Hes not glorifying what he did, but he is happy that he isnt in jail/license suspended/w/e.

I just hate these subjects in which everyone feels they have to berate someone for something that is just a bad decisiion, something we all find ourselves doing, making bad decisions that is.

as long as you have that bitch tellin the flat foots that she got the black eye from running into a door. Then beat her after they leave for making enough noise during the first beating to warrant the neighbors making a concerned call to the police.

Drunk driving is not the smartest thing to do. I've been hit by a drunk driver before and it sucked. I have been pulled over piss-ass drunk before and was let off. There are just some times where you get in your truck 10 minutes from home and about 5 minutes from your place you realize you are fucked up.

I don't advocate drunk driving but it's cool that you got away with it. Hopefully you learned some sort of lesson along the way.

as long as you have that bitch tellin the flat foots that she got the black eye from running into a door. Then beat her after they leave for making enough noise during the first beating to warrant the neighbors making a concerned call to the police.

If you had money to pay a defense attorney, you would not have qualified for a public defender. You need to be dirt poor to qualify for one in most jurisdictions - and by dirt poor, I mean dirt poor... In our county, a single person needs to be earning something like $7k or less a year to qualify.

Also, the fact that in most states both the DA and the public defender are paid by the state, does not mean that public defenders are basically just sucking off the DAs. The reason most public defenders suck ass is because they generally have just graduated law school and have little experience, they also have gargantuan case loads, and the turnover is very high due to poor pay, high stress, little rewards, and a horrible stigma (oh my god - how can you defend child molesters and murderers??).

You are correct that you are fortunate enough that you can pay for an attorney - but to be honest, even those dumbass public defenders probably could have gotten you the same result given that this was your first offense.

In this country it's a mandatory 12 month licence suspension, plus fines and/or imprisonment. If you do it again, the punishment grows exponentially.

I call bullshit. I suspect a conscious or subconscious effort on the parts of the participants to skew the experiment in the direction they wanted it to go. And even if the results were absolutely kosher, I think we of all people know 2 = too small sample size.

I once got in my car wasted - so drunk I didn't even realise it was a mistake. A friend pulled me out of it, physically. When I was sober enough to understand what I'd done I was almost sick. Never again.

Drink driving is one of those things which is simply, unequivocally all bad, all the time.

Yeah man, high five! Down with the man and establishment! Let's hit some families driving home and kill them too! Man, we are so showing our rebelliousness!
*start flame*

What the fuck is your problem? Are you a retarded geek shit who tries to be funny and fails and pretends to be gay and fails and try to prove how much smarter you are than me and fails?

I *said* drink driving is a dumb idea and I acknowledge that there are innocent third parties that suffer when things go wrong. But the fact is nothing *did* go wrong this time; what is wrong with giving him a high five that he beat the establishment?

Of course I'd be even happier if he beat a drug posession charge.

*end flame*

If you believe him, which I have no reason not to; he wasn't drunk. He was simply over the limit that was arbitrarily set and arbitrarily altered and arbitrarily enforced.

Boost,

I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I bashed so hard on fasin8ing at first was because he came off like he was bragging about what he did. He apologized for that and edited it so I don't have so much of a problem with this thread anymore.

Also, bigred was right all along when he said to lock this thread. Instead we got this dramabomb.
