If he's 16 and 6 months and older, You should round it to 16 years ago for reasons of brevity. If it's younger, then you should round it up to 17. So it's 50/50 for reasons of ball parking.
And my 16 comment leaves less confusion about his actualy age vrs your 17 since it requires the explination of accounting for pregnancy.
