Hey i was wondering how you got so many people here. I just started my own site and no one knows it exists.

We went to every forum around town and spam linked it.
(I found it through google. That's probably the case for most people.)

Search Engine Optimization.
A lot of stuff you don't see. A lot of stuff you do. Google page-rank is everything.
It doesn't happen overnight. It took us nearly a year before we had substantial traffic.

I think that is why they don't allow out-links normally either. I found FTR from google.

I found FTR by googling my PokerRoom screen name. I was in a hand history in the limit forum. I folded preflop...

well I have paid money and am added to over 100 search engines though most said it would take about two weeks

yeh thats rubbish, read up on SEO, initially your best bet is to create a links page (database driven is best for ease) and try to reciprocate as many links as possible, eventually google will rank you better with the more sites pointing to your site.
If google already ranks a site really high, and that webpage links to you, then google likes you even more.
When I started uni I created a site selling legal highs, it takes about 3 months of hard work before you start getting visitors (5-10 a week) and after about a year I peaked to 15 or so visitors a day, but this was for a very specific website.
dont bother paying people to do any of this for you, just read up on it, and its just a fair bit of manual labour (link swaps, tweaking your site a bit so its search engine friendly and has lots of relevant terms in its main pages)
Theres loads of free info out there, just search for search engine optimisation

Back in 1999 i had a fansite. I spend many many hours working with SEO. Eventually I peaked with 300 visitors/day. It was a fun project, but Rome is not build overnight.

I found this site, because someone I was playing against in a SNG at PokerStars had the FTR logo as his avatar. Been here ever since.

This is a true story. I'm not a paid actor. FTR does not guarantee any results. People can and do lose money when playing poker.

We've never paid a single red penny to any portals or search engine sites.
Like I said, Search Engine Optimization. That is not the same thing as paying a search engine site.

You can get here from a lot of ways such as.
Boobie Avatars.
If you search that it brings you to FTR.
