Post subject: how does FTR fight porn spammers?

One of the good things about FTR is I hardly ever see any spam...
is there something FTR is doing or some software being used that I'm not aware of or do we just have a lot of mods to clear the shit away?
Cos I'm posting on another forum and we are being overrun by the porn spam, and I'm looking for some ideas

they usually Auto change the links, this guy has a new link that's not being recognized like the old ones. I PM'd a few mods about it but nobody was here earlier. Also mods cant delete the thread if people post in it. But they can edit the link.

I just think its a testimony to Xman's superb selection of mods, give or take a mod or two. I'm still not one, which is proof he keeps the crazies from power.

I just moved two hardcore intercourse threads to the bin! It was fun.
We are able to delete threads with posts in it, it's just more work than usual.
We usually don't delete threads though, they mostly go to the recycle bin so that Xianti can take note of the posters and ban them.
Mods have been begging Xianti to give us powers to temp ban certain posters, which would make our job easier. Apparently this is really difficult though and it isn't possible right now. For the most part it's fine the way it is, but on occasion some asshole will spend an hour making zillions of threads full of shit, and then whichever mod's on at the time has to spend 30 min binning/deleting all of it WHILE the bastard posts more at the same time. In cases like this, it would be nice to be able to temp ban.
Xianti has some auto-edit thing for typical spam links I think, but it's mostly just the mods moving stuff before you get a chance to see them. Even if the links are auto-edited, a mod still has to move the thread to the recycle bin.
If anyone ever sees anything inappropriate anywhere and no one's moved it after a while, PM a mod and tell him to move it. Sometimes stuff gets missed, especially if it's in a low traffic forum.

Well, we take a proactive approach. I've been slumming around the back allys of internet porn for the last few years trying to get to the source of these pornbot bastards.
Behind every eighteen year old having sex on camera during her 18th birthday and every 37 year old strippers with 42 DDDD tittays doin' 300 dudes in one sitting I come just a hair closer to my goal. But every so often, I realize that I haven't even scratched the surface on internet porn.

The question isn't "how", the question is "why".
A few suggestions to make the life of a p0rnmod easier:
-auto-bin posts where the spamlink filter has been triggered
-make the "mass moderate this forum" work on searches, so that we can just open the spammers profile, "view all posts", "select all", "move to: recycle bin".

A lot of time I spend in our forums, I'm reviewing topics in the Recycle Bin, banning spammers and censoring spam URLs. The banning part is a tedious process that is done manually, one at a time, as I also check to see if the spammer is sharing an IP address with former spammers, in which case I ban by IP as well. Beyond that, I don't want to say too much, as potential spammers might read this.

I've often wished for this myself. It's not a feature in our current version of phpBB. I may look into a mod that does this.
