Basically, I just saw this show about cheat codes in video games and they went through a bunch of quests for World of Warcraft and I got the sense that there is simply endless things you can do and get in this game.

Part of me wants it to test it out, but the other part of me knows I'll probably get rediculously addicted to it and don't have free time to spare right now.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

ridiculously addicting. If you don't have the time to commit, don't start now.

You know what's better than poker or WOW? How about both at the same time

i like to wow on breaks from poker. i think it is very addicting right away when it's new, but then as it gets progressively more difficult leveling up and then you get more reasonable about it. but seriously, it's a nice break from Das Grindt if you like games. i got way into WoW and started playing less poker at one point last fall, but now i am playing more poker again. so you come back, just enjoy the ride.
In answer to your question... it depends...

possessed, there is this one game, I forget its name, but theres a guy that clears like 20k$ a month. There was another game that I heard about a guy buying a piece of property for some crazy amount, like 100k. He said it was pretty much a pure business investment. He knew he could clear 15k a month and he did. The thing he bougt was a night club I believe.... what is wrong with people?

I have played a few MMO's and all I have to say is, it can become more of a grind than poker. If you limit yourself they can be very enjoyable though.

Yah I was heavy into Diablo2, Me and my freinds were some of the front runners on the first hardcore ladder. I forget the guys name but we used to play with him all the time, he had a necro taht was the leader of the ladder like lvl40-65. Was pretty cool cuz no one else had ever made it that far, except for outside of hardcore (were it doesnt even really matter..)

Don't do it rilla, it will become addicting like heroin. however, if you do, you have to promise me that if you ever raid a funeral and slaughter all attendees, you must tell me about it and I will buy the game just to witness it. It is so worth the $40.

that reminds me when I read about the guy that created Ultima Online, was doing some sort of in game event, and some play came and killed his ass hahahahha. The guy got publicly embarassed in his own world! Thats why he made the world, so he could ignore the one in which he was teased and beat up all through his life... and now hes getting publicly humiliated, in his own world bwhwhwahahah

It's only addicting if you let it consume your life. I'm in the damn military and I have time to play here and there. Mind you i'm not exactly lvl 60 or anything, but It's still fun. I'm mainly playing for the pvp later on when I do level up

i played everquest for a while. seems like pretty much the same thing. you will get addicted, i guarantee. if you have friends that play, and the game is made so that you can level without needing to block off 12 hours at a time, it will be even worse.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

I know a guy who actually lost his job because of EQ. He learned his lesson tho, he's back in school now.
My roommate plays WoW... Works two jobs, spends two days and a night each week with his daughter, and still puts in a good 20 hours at WoW. It's a game for the real go-getter with an addictive personality.
Check out my self-deprecation here!

I used to play a bit on a friend's account just because I had a bit of free time. I found it to be addicting to most ppl who don't like their real life. In the game you can easily become sucessfull and it makes people feel like they're really accomplishing something and it makes them happy or whatever. I noticed this when I said to myself "it's ok that i did bad on the exam because I leveled up". Later I realized and was like 'come on wtf'.

I spent most my time trading/selling stuff for profit. Later on I used the gold I ammounted to fund a casino which I made about 1500g with (~50 dollars if I sold it). The casino thing ended up being against the rules and got my friend temp banned for a couple of days (which he wasnt happy about until he saw i made more gold in 2 weeks than he did in 5 months).

Eventually (two weeks or so) I just got bored and quit. I guess it was worth it just to understand the WoW allusions that I see everywhere.

It's fun, but yes, it's addictive. If you do start playing, start a character on Durotan so we can be orc friends <3
