I have a vga <---> vga connection so the physical connection isn't the problem. I plug them in and switch my tv to "pc" input, and its only a black screen. Im assuming its something on my lappy I need to switch over to.

Your laptop should have a button you press to put an image on the tv. It's usually looks like a box dealy. Here is a pic of it on the F5 key.

I had a hard time with my PC and LCD (Samsung). It doesn't come with drivers cuz it's "plug-n-play" compatible. Except I had to plug it in as the sole monitor and reset my computer to get it to work right.

try messing with the resolution on the laptop. i was having the same problem as you, and assuming youve pushed the display output button (F5 pic above), that fixed it for me.

control panel/display/settings then click on the #2 monitor and set it to extend windows to this monitor.
