lately ive heard my peers start using the word 'whatevs' instead of 'whatever.' i think its stupid and i dont get it. have you heard this word? where did it from come? does it piss you off too?

I have not heard, nor do I ever want to hear the word "whatevs."
Just seeing it typed out makes me cringe.
P.S. Hopefully this deosn't catch on, but if it does I expect it'll take at least 6 to 12 months to make it to the Midwest. My kids will probably think this new word is great, and will use it in all sorts of situations.
I will then ban this word from my classroom.

I say "late" on the phone when I end a conversation with one of my good friends sometimes, especially if it's a quick conversation, or a conversation that has to end quickly.
I type "laters" online but don't think I've ever used it when talking to someone.
sketch and sketchball just sound stupid.

I've used it with you plenty of times, I'm sure of it. It's always at the end of the conversation, though, so maybe you've been "T-O'ed," then I close AIM and by the time you talk to me again you forget that you were "T-O'ed."

I've rarely heard people say "sketch" and never heard people say "sketchball". I've heard "sketchy" a lot though.
Also, none of the modified words than anyone has mentioned here really bother me. I mean, why should I care if some decides to say whatevs instead of whatever. It means the same thing either way. Maybe its because I don't think I've ever actually heard most of the word modifications mentioned above that it doesn't bother.
