I'm not saying they're a terrible team but they just won't make the playoffs in the AFC. If they were in the NFC then I would give them about a 50% chance of making the playoffs.

Your analogy does not apply at all.

You're not being smart you're a moron. The Texans will not make the playoffs. They are definitely worse than the Patriots, Colts, Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, Chargers, Jaguars, Jets, and Broncos.
Yeah, you should probably calm down. Just because our prospects are looking up and it's looking like we won't turn into the Lions doesn't mean that you need to be going apeshit.

But ok; let's say my analogy doesn't apply. That still doesn't make it smart for me to take a 3:1 bet with you over a 28:1 bet with a sportsbook.

And we don't need to be better than all those teams listed to get into the playoffs. The Texans need to be better than the Colts, Jaguars, and Titans. That's it.

Fair enough but you didn't answer my question. how much are you putting on that sports book bet?

there are 2 teams in your division that are clearly better than the texans. they play in the AFC. plus side: they are matched up with the pathetic NFC south.

    I say 6-10. I feel I am being generous.

at the very least, Mario Williams has not turned out to be a good #1 pick thus far, the least you can do is acknowledge that. The guy is lucky to be alive (he was taped at doing like 150?? mph on the freeway last year), and he hasn't really performed on the field. I watched a little bit of the Texans last year, and it seemed like the tackle would always handle him 1 on 1 with ease.
Which teams would that be? Colts, perhaps. The Jaguars? They're one of the only teams that the Texans hold a winning record over, and that was when we sucked. The Texans own the Jaguars. The Titans? Yeah, that's not true either.

And 1 pick does not make a team. Let's say the worst case scenario happens and Mario doesn't pan out at all. There's still the entire rest of the team to contend with, and our drafts have done well at picking out starters under Kubiak.
not Colts, perhaps. Colts, absolutely no doubt about it would be more accurate. The 2nd team I was referring to would be the Jags. Sure, you beat them twice last year, but if memory serves me right, they beat you twice the year before. The bottom line is that I feel that they just have a better team.

If you want, we could always bet on where the Texans will finish in the division. I take 3/4, you take 1/2. 1:1 with escrow I'll go up to $5k.

fwiw, I think the titans and Young are overrated.

Thanks for the offer, Lukie, but I think I have enough of my bankroll tied up in Texans futures at the moment.

    heh, it's alright.

fwiw, I like Kubiak as a coach and think that he and the FO will get things turned around. I just think we might be off by a year or two on the timeframe of when that will translate into results on the field.

A lot of people around CLE have a ton of optimism about the browns. Same thing though... I think we are 1-2 years off.

Yeah, Quinn is looking like the steal of the draft. I'm guessing he'll be starting by the halfway point of the season.

wow I sure hope so. He's looked good, but a lot of the good #'s he put up were late in games against grocery baggers when they had a big lead. And we gave up a TON to get him (pick 36 + probable high '08 first rounder).

If he turns out like we're hoping he will though, it will be well worth it. If I had to throw out a guess on when we see him as the starter, it would be after the bye week in St Louie.

Ensign, if you really think the texans will finish above the colts, then you're delusional.

anytime there is a bad team in any league, the homers always think that they are going somewhere THIS year, or they are 1-2 years off.

    no exceptions. ever.

I really do think that the browns are assembling some real talent though and are 'getting there'. They sure looked pathetic today though.

    Hahahaha.

Guess what Mario Williams has more of than Reggie Bush (besides sacks, which, by the way, Mario picked up two of those today)?

    TOUCHDOWNS!!! AHAHAHAHAH

    Mario: 1 TD
    Reggie Bush: 0 TDs

Oh man, that Vince Young is an incredible player. All he does is win. His TD-INT ratio is 0-1 and he has the 2nd lowest QB rating in the league, but who cares about a bunch of silly numbers? When he throws the ball to the other team, it gets his teammates fired up! That's the sign of a true leader.

I was very surprised that Ed was not all over Vince's balls when we were talking football. You' think someone who went to TU during their championship would respect greatness more.

Vince is awesome, he's a leader, he has it, whatever it is, I don't know, but he's got a lot of it. Once we get any kind of talent around him it's going to be scary.

For the record I never said they were going to be a bad team, just that they wouldn't make the playoffs. They are looking very good but it is only the 2nd week so don't get ahead of yourself.

It's kinda funny. In poker, poor players look at the results of hands and we scold them. In football, everyone looks right to the stats...

It's also odd. In poker, poor players try to evaluate their talents based on 100 hands. In football, 60~120 minutes of play is over...

Not a commentary on Vince Young as I'm still skeptical of his abilities but certainly a commentary on these douche-bag rants quoting all of 1 weeks stats.
