Post subject: Help Needed- My first alcoholic beverage!

Alright so I'm a 20 year old and have never drunk more than about 3 ounces of alcohol. Yes, this is lame. Beer has never been for me, though I do like champagne, and I have never even tasted anything else. My 21st birthday is in 6 days and I'm going to buy a few things to drink in the safety of my apartment with some friends and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for my first night of drinking? I plan to buy 3-5 bottles of stuff to sample (pls no beer) and I'm sure some of you are real aficionados on this subject, judging from typical behavior in the IRC + just about all of Zwifts posts.

start out with Vodka. It doesn't have a strong taste and mixes well with lots of stuff.

Vodka's not a bad idea, but make sure to at least get something half decent as the cheapest of vodkas taste like cleaning solvent (even moreso than the good ones).

as for drinks.
You can't go wrong with Screwdrivers, Margaritas, Rum and Coke... Go with the ones you know the names of, and enjoy them. Then once you get your drinkin' legs under you, and you know how you're going to handle alcohol try the Rocky Mountain Goat Fukcer, Prairie fire, and liquid cocaine, and eventually you'll be drinking everclear and pissing fire.
I love me some prarie fire, but man they hurt you the next day.

The first "legal" drink I had was Makers Mark, obviously I had been drinking for 3-4 years prior but that was probably the perfect way to kick off a year of binge-drinking.
In college I drank a lot of light beer and rum/vodka w/ mixers b/c I was a pussy, sort of where you are now. Now it's usually just whiskey or beer, but I don't drink much at all anymore.

Vodka and juices. You have to work towards enjoying other alcohol but you can overpower vodka with a lotta juice and drink with comfort.
You can get flavoured rum too.

So far some popular choices have been a single malt Scotch and a non-cheap Vodka mixed with some sort of fruit beverage.

I recommend scotch as well because it determines how much of a man you are. It'll also be a fantastic way to find out which of your friends are actually cool.
Just be sure to buy quality liquor. We've all made the mistake of drinking bottom shelf stuff, and wish we could take it back.

Start with what every other regular person started with back in day...Vodka and Tropical Punch Kool-Aid, Peach Schnapps and Orange Juice and Lemonade with Blue Curacao. It tastes best when stolen from your parents' liquor cabinet.

Vodka all the way for a newbie. Stoli is excellent, definitely the best for the price. If you try to cheap out on vodka you'll basically be drinking nail polish remover.

wtf to people suggesting any sort of whiskey drink. my fav drinks are cuervo black and cola like 40/60 and lots of lime and harvey's bristol cream sherry, but i would never suggest that to a first timer.
swallow your pride and buy jager, smirnoff and parrot bay. use the jager for shots and bitch away with the other two by making like bay breezes and shit. regardless of how big your balls are you will hate any other type of drink

While I disagree that starting with the good stuff (like scotch) is a bad idea. I agree that it will likely be much more enjoyable to start with the wimpy girly stuff. Like fuzzy navels. The problem with starting with the good stuff is that good stuff has high alcohol content, and nubs can't handle that, as we all know

Jagerbombs are what you want! They're great for a party atmosphere and are tasty to drink!
Basically you fill a cup with Red Bull about halfway, and then fill a shot glass with yagermeister and place the shot glass in the Red Bull glass so that the red bull doesn't mix with the yagermeister. You then down them all together!! Great Fun!!
Alternatively if you like licorice, then shot of flaming sambuca are also great fun with mates. Pour the sambuca into a shot glass and then you can either light the sambuca as it is, blow it out, cup your hand over it immediately to stop the fumes getting out, then quickly inhale the fumes and down the shot!! Or, just take the shot and light it in your mouth... just keep your head pointing as far up as possible!!
...... endless fun with alcohol!
