Well like take any generation or period in time. You can sort of determine how open people in that generation were by figuring out their stance on something really extreme like pornography and comparing it today's generation.
For example say you work at some cubicle computer job today and your coworkers are generally age 22-35. You could crack a joke about someone looking at porn on the internet and it would be funny and no big deal. However 40 years ago pornography was a taboo subject, taboo word. Most people probably didn't even know what it was.
So basically a generation's reception/rejection/perception of pornography is a gauge that is very telling of that generation. Another analysis that can be made is the gross profit of the porn market since the 60's, which is basically a parabolic curve (even if you adjust for population/inflation).
The porn industry's incline is also probably comparable to other factors related to sensitivity, like the decline in Christianity for example.
