Not only has Hellmuth made 2 final tables this year but he was very close to taking down the $1500 HORSE event. Manybe now he will eventually get respect (even begrudgingly) from those non believers who think he's just a NL Donkament luckbox.
Way to go Phil.

i was one of the chipleaders in this event shortly after the bubble, the play was atrocious at my table, unfortunatly one hand of stupd where we both had burried aces crushed me when he hit 2 pair and i didnt , as well as 3 sick razz hands where i started a35 vs 789 shorty 4 bet all in on 3rd i make quads obv, and then 3 way pot i have 246 they have 7 and 8 showing i somehow got 5 bets in on 3rd and then i catch a 3 and they catch 8 and k and get all in on 4th, i then catch q q 2 and bust to the luckiest kid in the world. who thinks any 8 lo is the nizzles meh shoulda been a final table for sure, hellmuth is a sicko tho, had to listen to him and matasow trash alk everyone at the tables for hours was kinda annoying after a while tho. mataow is for sureon speed or coke or soemthing

My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

Conversely, why do people always rag on people they don't know - let alone be 10% as good as - and fail to give credit where it's due?

No idea why you'd say hat. I didn't have anybody in mind when I made that post. Just stating fact from what I have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears - let alone on an internet forum.
And as far as the internet is concerned, there may well be players who can beat Hellmuth soundly, but there's far, far more who wouldn't. And beating him is irrelevant - my main point is about people ragging on, and rooting against, someone they don't know.

In this case its not just hate for the sake of hate. Hes a gloating, whining cry baby that berates people because hes a poor sport. If he wasnt such a fuckin asshole all the time he would be very popular and get the credit he deserves.
If you act like a dick, you get treated like a dick.

cool hellmuth story:
in the 1k rebuy... i think event #4 this year... Hellmuth is playing during the rebuy period at my friends table when this hand goes down. I don't know the depths of the stacks but hellmuth limps in one of the early or middle positions. folds to a very loose button who raises it up. Hellmuth goes on a giant rant for minutes before FOLDING AK FACE UP. the button laughs and shows 46s, go hellmuth!

I guessed this was the reason behind the hate but in my world, being popular and getting credit are two different things.
Eg: I never liked Zinedine Zidane (too much coasting through games and only turning it on for the big matches) and though it pains me to admit it, I can't argue with the assertion that he's the greatest player of his generation. And IMO, in the top 3 of all time.
