So says Martial Larry!

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

That's what they always say in the beginning

No, this is strictly to encourage discussion about FTR's direction.

The direction FTR is taking is not towards martial law. This is a temporary measure that i believe has made the community better in the short term. If martial law was a long term solution then I think it would damage the community but the whole point is it is a short term transition and it will be over soon.

Even so, its not like people are being banned for having controversial opinions. All of the bannings have been people who are deliberatly (or jokingly) flaming. Ill agree that it seems harsh in some cases but really, if you cant refrain from throwing abuse at people, even jokingly for a few weeks then you have issues.

Sorry... I've still been simply too busy to draft the rules and have the moderators review it. And now, I'm going to be gone all this weekend in Vegas.

Got any examples from other sites that might be good models?

err.. Im trying to just stay away from being an idjit and blowing up on someone again. But then again Im sure that wont happen cuz I just dont really see that happening. But I didnt interpret the rules as a bar on my humor. Am I not supposed to poke people in the ribs anymore? I still have been... if I shouldnt, then I wont, but I thought like as long as we .. I dont know.

If I felt that any of the shit I said would really get to people I wouldnt say it. Dont know if thats worth anything.

Well since Xianti didnt really answer lol.... my take on it is this. Most of the stuff that goes on here is just people joking/ harmless fun poking w/e. However certain peoples jokes have been misunderstood pretty recently and it has got them into trouble so why not just lay off for a couple of weeks until everyone has properly calmed down, and the new rules are clear and in place.

hahah yah the turtle was great...

and as for not joking for a couple weeks. Well its just hard to read the forums, see a GREAT spot for a joke, then not post it. Im not trying to say who should and shouldnt be banned, but from what Ive seen everyone that got the boot either wanted to or didnt care, and caused trouble accordingly. On the other hand, I want to be here, and Im not making jokes just to start shit.
