Daniel Steinberg raised to 15,000 from under the gun and action folded all the way around to Barry Greenstein in the big blind. Greenstein reraised to 45,000 and Steinberg thought for a minute or two. Steinberg then slid out two tall stacks of chips to put Greenstein all in. Greenstein quickly made the call and tabled the AA . Steinberg held the TT.
The flop came down T43 and Steinberg spiked a set to take the lead. The turn brought the 7 and the river the 3. Steinberg wound up with a full house and the best hand to eliminate Greenstein just ten minutes before the end of the night.
Upon getting eliminated from every event, Greenstein signs a copy of his book "Ace On the River" for his opponent. He chronicles the hand that knocked him out and sticks his autograph on the inside cover. It's quite the nice gesture, especially when you've just lost a big buy-in tournament as what happened here. This one was extra interesting though.
When he saw Greenstein going to sign the book, Steinberg requested that Greenstein sign it and write something special to Steinberg's grandparents. "I hate to ask because of what just happened, but you could write something to my grandparents saying that their grandson is a very good poker player and he'll make a lot of money playing some day?" asked Steinberg. The table and Greenstein chuckled knowing that Steinberg won with only 20% on that hand.
"Not after the way you played that hand," commented Greg Mueller from across the table, joking with...

Here are a couple of updates from today:
Posted 2 hours 8 minutes ago by danafish
Brian Powell made it 26,000 under the gun and Daniel Steinberg made it 53,000 from the button; Powell made the call and they were at the flop.
Both players checked the flop, and they saw the devil's own turn - the . Powell bet out 55,000, and Steinberg gave it up there. "I don't want to lose my white chips," he giggled - although his stack was still at an impressive 725,000 after that, only 100,000 of it is in the white T25,000 chips. Powell increased to 425,000.
Steinberg got most of his chips back the next hand (no white ones, though) when he raised to 18,000 in the cutoff and picked up a call from Anthony Newman in the big blind. They both checked the flop before Newman bet out 30,000 on the turn. Steinberg, his hand shaking rather suspiciously to our eyes, called.
Newman checked the river and Steinberg tanked up for a while. Eventually he went to bet - but Newman had folded before the chips had left his hand, and Steinberg took the pot to put him back up to around 780,000.
And then..... not so good for Danny
Posted 1 hour 45 minutes ago by donpeters
Viktor Blom raised to 19,000 and Daniel Steinberg reraised from the small blind to 70,000. On the last hand, Steinberg three-bet Blom's preflop raise from the big blind and then showed the 6x, 4x . This time, Blom made the call.
The flop came down and Steinberg fired 80,000. Blom made the call and the turn came the . Steinberg checked and Blom fired out 130,000. Steinberg folded his hand and Blom hit the one-million mark.
If the site is correct Danny is 6th in chips with approx 671K. Blinds are 5k/10K so plenty of playability though.

Here's my favorite quote: "Mueller got to hear about it first, 'He's a maniac,' lamented Baker, 'And he has to have the Aces..."
Having avoided getting involved (correctly) in another large hand just moments earlier and called over Greg Mueller from the next table over to tell him about it ("I tried to bust me...I folded pre though") David Baker did in fact bust himself in dramatic fashion.
Daniel Steinberg was the very player who was the loser in the previous Big Hand (Hoyt Corkins doubling up with a flopped set of Aces with Steinberg going for it with the when a second heart turned on a turn but missing the river). He made the first raise preflop to 9,500, and Baker raised to 26k. Back to Steinberg who sat still for a while, showing no agitation, but finally fourbetting Baker. Baker moved in quickly and was called even more quickly, and he had to face the bad news:
Baker:
Steinberg:
Mueller got to hear about it first, "He's a maniac," lamented Baker, "And he has to have the Aces..."
His poor timing seemed suddenly to have been a blessing in disguise as he flopped a set on the flop, but the turn was the and the river the bringing runner-runner flush for one of Steinberg's Aces.

Dan Steinberg raised from the button, and Brian Powell moved in for his last 145,000 or so from the small blind. A call, and they were on their backs.
Steinberg:
Powell:
Board:
Despite the good-natured calls of, "Queen!" from Steinberg's brother Max at the rail, which he swiftly changed to, "Queen jack king!" when Steinberg gave him a look, no-one hit anything and the ladies held up.
Powell is back in the game on 300,000.

Steinberg Perkier Than Most
Posted 2 minutes ago by danafish
Daniel Steinberg
First hand back, and we've already seen more action than most of the last level put together.
Fabrizio Baldassari opened for 55,000 in the cutoff and Dan Steinberg called in the small blind to see an flop, which he checked. Baldassari bet another 108,000, and Steinberg called.
The turn was the and this time Steinberg bet out to the tune of 210,000. For a moment we thought that Baldassari was interested - but he was actually just showing his cards to the hole card cameras before folding.
Steinberg took the pot, and is now roughly tying for second place with Ronald Lee, on around 1.58 million.

Hand #56: The action folded round to Fabrizio Baldassari on the button who took down the blinds and antes with a raise to 75,000.
Hand #57: Dan Fleyshman raised it up under the gun and Ronald Lee called, but the latter gave it up to a bet on an AS 2H 5H flop.
Hand #58: Dan Fleyshman received a walk in the big blind.
Hand #59: Daniel Steinberg raised to 65,000 in the cut-off, only for James Bord to three-bet to 155,000 total from the button. Steinberg, looking ice cool in his Top Gun shades, riffled his chips for a minute before releasing his hand.
Hand #60: Fabrizio Baldassari opened the action with 75,000. The rest of the table stepped out of the way.

Hand #69: Dan Fleyshman raised to 64,000 and Danny Steinberg reraised to 205,000 from the big blind. Immediately, Fleyshman put out a tall stack of white T25,000 chips for 569,000 total. Steinberg immediately shoved all in for 1,117,000. Fleyshman didn't look too happy, but made the call.
Fleyshman: Ac Qh
Steinberg: KdKc
The flop came down TdThTc and although Steinberg flopped a full house, Fleyshman picked up one out because he could hit the case ten to win now.
The turn brought the 8c and kept Steinberg in the lead. The river brought the 6s and Steinberg's twin brother gave a loud cheer from the rail and clapped his hands, super happy that his brother just doubled up big.

2 of the big stacks to his left are dwindling(Bord) or down in chips(Fleyshman). As the numbers dwindle, I assume Danny's edge goes up. Of course so does that damn variance.

Hand #88: 110k to go courtesy of button Nicolas Levi. Big blind Steinberg made the call. J4A the flop, which was checked to Levi who bet 75k. Steinberg called. The turn brought the 3 and another check from Steinberg. Levi checked behind. The river was the 10 . A final check from the big blind, and Levi just mucked when he saw Steinberg's A9.
