I was just thinking watching this thing, I'm sure most of the people on this forum will be able to connect with most of the stuff he says, but what was really the frightening realization was the fact that to me most of the stuff he talked about was like "duh", but I'd imagine there are quite a few people, even over here that completely disagree with everything he says. Now that's scary, realizing that even the most basic things you take for granted, someone will feel the complete opposite about it and think you're crazy. Man, we're doomed. I need more beer.

Thankfully I did get to see Carlin live, at the MGM Grand a number of years ago... it was a great experience. My brother and I were in vegas for the week, bought tickets (suprisingly good ones, 2nd row of tables back from the stage, center). We weren't doing well at the blackjack table that afternoon so headed to the show about an hour before it opened... strangely they went ahead and had us in... the waitress brought us each a 'vodoo' which I have no idea what was in it...

Sitting there, just chilling out before the show, waiting for the people to arrive, they were playing with the lights and curtains, and Carlin walks out... says a couple of words to do a mic check. He looks at us, says hi, then ducks backstage again. The crowd comes in and he starts the show... right after the applause dies down, we get to be his target for the whole show, talking most of the time right at us or to us... was a great show... the only time I've been really close to a star of his caliber.

Anyway, RIP George, we miss your sarcastic yet honest view of the world.
