 I've been listening to a lot of funk lately and have noticed something interesting.

In most funk songs, especially Rick James songs, the song starts out normally.

Then, suddenly, the song takes an abrupt turn, and then theres a 5+ minute long bridge when the entire band starts chanting about "the Funk." The Funk was apparently very important to these folks.

What exactly is, "the Funk"?
