g1u (7:44:12 PM): i want to invest in you
g1u (7:44:18 PM): i think you can crush the pokerstars SNGs
g1u (7:44:31 PM): solves your problem too
DerangedAmoeba (7:44:33 PM): Can I give you my rvop money?
g1u (7:44:48 PM): eh its not necessary
g1u (7:45:07 PM): this is really how i got started
On April 6, 2005, Gabe offered to stake me. He gave me $150 to play the $5 SnG's on stars, which is more than enough bankroll. I started out doing ok, but I really didn't know how to play the game that well back then. I can honestly say that he has molded me as a poker player. He's been extremely nice and helpful with my endeavors as well; as long as he wasn't 8-tabling he often pulled up my tables to give me advice and answer my questions.
I could choose to end the staking whenever I wanted. Today, after 2-tabling the $15s and getting 1st and 2nd, I have a total of $763.25 in my PokerStars account, and I am walking away with a little over $300 to be my own man now.
I just wanted to say thanks, Gabe, for being so generous with your time and having faith in me. I really wish you the best of luck with your poker future, but that being said, this is not goodbye!
I have found something I love and something that I'm fairly good at, if nothing else. You the man.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Goddamn VQ, first you make other people *play* for you, now you want them to give you the money to do it? Damn, you got this gig figured out!

I think I would be willing to go as low as 10% for me/90% for the staker in order to get staked.
I would even promise to follow my own advice instead of demonstrating how not to play.
Wait - if I make that promise, maybe I should just stake myself... hmmm...
