Ok this is official.
Please figure out what time this is for you. 8pm PST is all i can convert, lol.
We will draft on AIM. So please have an AIM SN made and PM it to me if you do not have it available in your FTR or whatever. If u can't make it I guess I'll draft for you in some manner (don't be mad if u end up with Shawn Bradley on your team however )
The league will be done through yahoo! sports, so also have a yahoo ID ready. I will PM you the league name and password. Go to the link below and enter in the info I sent you.
http://basketball.fantasysports.yaho...nprivateleague
Right now we have 9 people, so if it stays at some odd number I'll see if my cousin (an FTR lurker) can join.

Ok we can start up anytime we want it seems. nba.com has a nice custom private fantasy system that you can make anytime. you just have to draft within 24 hours of when you make the league.

1 more person and we can set a date.
hopefully we can find our #8 (or more) before the weekend is over
Two things: nba.com just shut down making custom leagues i think so we're prolly gonna have to get in a chat room, do the draft, and ill manually put it in
also, what kind of league u do wanna play? i usually play Head-to-head roto leagues with daily lineup changes.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm good any time so I'll move my vote and the "anytime" voters to Sunday night.
11pm EST Sunday is the date I'm looking at.
And we're probably going to do a league at yahoo. So you'll need to make a yahoo ID.
Will also have to get into a chat room and do the draft there as live draft is done mostly everywhere. I'm guessing we'll do that in a AIM chat room, so have a AIM SN too.

daluchy,
I want to start preparing for the draft and hopefully other folks do as well.
Rather than using private messages, I think we should post as much info as possible here in the thread so that everyone has access to the same information.
Here is one of my first questions:
Which formula are we using to value points, rebounds, assists etc. Where is the link on yahoo showing how different statistical categories will be valued in our league?
Thanks for setting this up,
Eric

Ok I have some AIM SNs, but I'm still missing some.

Yeah I'll make the chat room sunday night sometime. I'll put everyone's name in a hat and choose the draft order that way. With this way, everyone is gonna have to keep track of who is being drafted and such themselves, so I'll prolly give up to 90 sec-2 min for each pick (I'll see how it goes). There's PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, 2 C, 2 Utils and 2 bench players to draft.
Well I explained the point system in the PMs, but here. It is rotissierie head-to-head. Meaning your vs. someone else every week in 9 different categories (pts, rebs, ast, stl, blk, to, fg %, ft %). So you'll play your guys every day and rack up stats. By the end of the week the cats will be added up. Say ur team scored a combined 220 rebounds and ur opponent 202, then you win that category.
That is all you need for how scoring goes. If you wanna learn more, it's probably easier just to make ur team already. All the settings and stuff are availible for you to look at.

I'll be using evidgames as my AOL SN.
Signing up was pretty easy for me.
I went to the http://basketball.fantasysports.yaho...a/register/tos page and hit the Agree Button.
Then clicked the Join Existing Custom or Public League link.
Then clicked the Join a Custom League link.
Then entered the League Id/Pwd and other info(including my team name which is FTR-Eric.
From there, the http://help.yahoo.com/help/hoops/ link is a nice resource for rules etc.
Next I'll be reading up on the specs for head to head roto leagues.

That's only 8 categories. We also have the 3-point shots made category from the http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/hoops/hoops-26.html page right?
Can you confirm that all the categories are equally weighted for scoring? In other words is the to category just as important as the pts category?
Thanks.

The http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/hoops/hoops-26.html page says that we start the following:
Quote:
1 point guard (PG)
1 shooting guard (SG)
1 guard (G)
1 small forward (SF)
1 power forward (PF)
1 forward (F)
2 centers (C)
2 utility (Util)
|
What is the url of a listing where we can check to see which players are classified as what position?
For example, I'd like to know which guards are classified as G and which ones are classified as SG.

Well good news is that I put all of the draft results in already.
Bad news is that since we didn't finish by midnight on sunday that the league starts *next* monday.
Oh well. One less distraction for finals week I guess
