Why doesn't anyone ever go deep on 2nd and 1?
You either get 3rd and 1 or a deep completion, maybe a turnover?

Good question. A lot of teams do go for big plays on 2nd and short. It is kind of like a free play. It is similar to when the qb sees a flag, knows the defense is off sides and throws it deep.

All year I've said, "Oh no, 2nd and 1. It's going deep." or "Alright, let's go deep. Freeroll!" And they run it.
