Default FlopTurnRiver "WSOP ME Fantasy" Contest *PRIZE GIVEAWAYS*

The 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event kicks off this Saturday, July 5th, with Day 1A action.

We will be holding an exclusive "WSOP Main Event Fantasy" Contest where we will award prizes to the Top 3 winners!

1st Place: $50 Amazon Gift Card
2nd Place: $25 Amazon Gift Card
    3rd Place: FlopTurnRiver.com Hat

This contest is available to FTR Forum Members worldwide who have a verified account with us.

The rules of the contest are as follows:

    (1) Players may choose 3 "horses" who they think will run the deepest in this year's WSOP Main Event.
    (2) Those participating must have a post count of at least 5 by 1:00pm Eastern Time, July 5, 2014.
    (3) Duplicate accounts are not allowed. Duplicate entries will be disqualified.
    (4) Admins may participate, but are excluded from prizes. Moderators, News Publishers and Members are eligible for prizes.
    (5) Players are welcome to select ANY 3 horses under the following criteria. Only two of your horses may be part of the "Top Tier" published by Bet365 (see image below). At least 1 horse must be absent from this list. The list is only a guideline. You can decide to choose 1-3 "horses" that are not on this list.
    (6) No players can have exact same 3 horses. Preference will be given to earliest poster in cases of repeated selections.
    (7) Results are calculated by eliminating result for horse that finishes earliest, then combining numerical score based on placement of remaining two. Lower averages receive higher placement.
    (8) Ties will go to single horse who ran deepest in the Main Event.
    (9) There will be no changes allowed once action begins July 5th. Confirm that your horses are indeed playing!

Calculation Example: You choose three players: A, B, and C.

    Player 'C' finishes #5,000
    Player 'B' finishes #800
    Player 'A' finishes #71

The results for Player 'C' are eliminated. The sum of the results of the remaining two deepest finishes are then divided by two.

    Ex: (B+A) / 2 = Result
    (800+71) / 2 = 435.5

This should be fun. What is the best way to confirm which players are entering the main event?

In general, Twitter feeds might be a good way to monitor whether your horse is entering.

Remember to get your picks in soon. I'm guessing some people will forget if they wait until the night of the 4th when there's typically a lot of drinking.

He followed that one up with saying he agrees with Daniel Colman's take on poker (it's evil, etc). Doesn't seem like Shaun is in a great mindset right now regardless of whether he decides to play the ME.

Xuan is gonna have to be last, because if she's first I'll shoot my load too quickly. I want to savour this one the most.

So now I just need to decide between Liv and Fatima.

Liv is British and is therefore most likely to be sexually repressed. I can see her lying there like a sack of spuds. She can go first.

Fatima is Dutch I think, so she'll be dirty.

    Liv, Fatima and then Xuan.

That was a nice five minutes or so.

    Hi guys,

I'm updating the chip counts for the horses chosen in this contest (see above post). There were 771 entrants on Day 1A. There were over 2,000 for Day 1B and Day 1C should see more than the first two days combined.

So far, the MIA selections are Shaun Deeb, Wil Wheaton, Greg Raymer, Jake Cody, JC Tran, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda, Ben Sulsky, Rich Lyndaker, Gavin Smith, Sam Trickett, Steve Gross, John Patgorski, and Matt Stout.

Most of these are sure-fire entries for Day 1C, but hopefully all will compete. There are two Doubtful players based on Twitter feeds: Shaun Deeb and Greg Raymer.

Also, could someone post Gabe's last name?

Both are still in the Main Event (Day 1C - see Post #36), but won't be coming back until tomorrow for Day 2B. You're in good shape.

I've edited Post #45 to also show those who will be competing tomorrow. Post #35 has a running list of which horses have busted and when.

    Best of luck!

We are quickly approaching the Top 3 spots in this contest. Up to this point, Galapogos and rong are in the lead with six members remaining (Galapogos, rong, Flopped71, Eric, The Bean Counter and bikes).

Aside from the previous John Patgorski update bikes linked me to earlier in this thread, I have been unable to find any status update on him via PokerNews, Twitter, Bluff or WSOP.

Following the conclusion of WSOP Main Event Day #3, there are five members with selections still remaining in the tournament:

    Eric
    rong
    Galapogos
    The Bean Counter
    bikes

Galapogos, rong and The Bean Counter are guaranteed the top 3 spots. Details on when the prizes will be awarded as well as how to submit shipping/personal information for receipt of prizes will be released within the next 48 hours.

    * Galapogos is guaranteed the First Place prize and is the only member with two "horses" set to compete in Day #4 (Phil Ivey & Allen Cunningham).

    * rong is our Second Place finisher with Phil Ivey. His Second Place standing is solidified over The Bean Counter due to Antonio Esfandiari's late Day 3 bustout compared to Jake Cody's early Day 3 exit. However, it is mathematically impossible for him to beat out Galapogos since he shares the same horse with him.

    * The Beat Counter is our Third Place finisher.

    * Eric is mathematically out of the running for the Top 3 due to the early Day 1 and Day 2 exits of his other selections. He is guaranteed 4th Place.

    * bikes still has one selection remaining (John Patgorski), but is not mathematically in the running for Top 5 since his other two horses were no-shows at the WSOP Main Event.

    Here are the updated standings:

    1. Galapogos --- $50 Amazon.com Gift Card
    2. rong --- $25 Amazon.com Gift Card
    3. The Bean Counter --- FlopTurnRiver Hat

    4. Eric
    5. Flopped71

That's the second time I've missed his progress. It's good to know his Twitter account to get a lock on his progress going forward, and I appreciate the correction. For some reason PokerNews hasn't mentioned him at all today or listed a Chip Count for him.

I have updated the post above to reflect this.

If I win anything but the hat, donate it to a kids charity or something.

is the prize a baseball hat or a beanie? The distinction is important

Good question. I had assumed a baseball cap but will check with the person who handles our inventory to clarify this.

You can have the baseball hat if I win it, as I look like a simpleton in them. I'd be happy enough with a beanie though.
