First we lose the curling game 7-6, and then our first olympic hockey game in 16 years ends with an 8-0 loss! Suck on my ballsack!

8-0 really isn't that bad bro. Canada's hockey team is just stacked. Everyone on that team is an NHL All-Star caliber player. Think USA in basketball at the Summer Olympics. The one difference is that we've got a lot more competition, what with Russia / Czech Republic / Sweden / Finland / USA and all. Going to be a heck of a tournament.
FWIW I don't care if Canada finishes 5th or 6th in the medal standings, well below expectations obv, so long as we ship the gold in Men's Ice Hockey. Easier said than done.
imo be proud you have a team good enough to make the olympic tournament. At last check there were a few decent young Norwegian players in the NHL (Patrick Thoresen IIRC would be a serviceable 3rd liner on most teams), some years down the line you may have a team capable of challenging. Start with good showings at the annual world juniors, and soon we'll see some dudes from Norway picked in the first few rounds of the NHL entry draft.
For now, though, you'll just have to put up with the blowouts.

Oh yeah. I should mention that I watched parts of the first period of tonight's game (was at dinner with the gf so it was kinda on and off) and Norway didn't look terribly out of place. The first period was very tentative and ended 0-0, quite impressive given what they were up against.

Norway can't shoot or pass or skate, but they check really, really well.

We never had a chance to win the hockey match ldo, I think most norwegians definition of a good result would be something like "less than 10 points for canada, and maybe one norwegian point". Would've been fun to lose by maybe 3 points less and get a score ourselves, both of which seemed possible until maybe half of the second period.
What really sucks is that we aren't doing well in our best events - hopefully things will turn around in cross-country tonight!

Part of the problem might be that you call them points.

Dette er veldig sant lilla ape oppvaskmaskin kjønnsleppene.
Still, I stand by my smartass comment that one of the very reasons Norway sucks at hockey is because you specifically called the score total points instead of goals on a newly sleeker-looking-but-still-only-fifth-or-sixth-best-in-the-industry poker forum.

The clown pants are the same brand used by some golfer, that's all I know about that.
Yay for two gold medals and one silver today, passing Canada in #medals!
