today was the first time that i have ever had a withdrawal request from FTP not approved within 5 minutes. Make of that what you will, it makes me a little nervous... I'm sure it's just a glitch, I will post when the approval has been approved.

as for money on other sites if you are a US player - before depositing material amounts of money you should ask yourself how exactly do you expect these sites to be able to transfer money to and from the US market in future (for context, look at what is happening to various e-wallet solutions such as UMW).

True Poker is gonna continue supporting American players. Awesome. I'd love to see if they successfully cash players out.

Well, that's the most likely thing (almost 99.99% this will happen). But I can dream, can't I?

    True Poker?

In April, three of the largest web poker sites – PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker – had their domains seized and 11 people connected to the gambling outfits were charged with bank fraud, money laundering and illegal gambling offenses.
A month later and US authorities are busy again, with a federal grand jury returning a pair of indictments charging two gambling businesses and three defendants with operating an illegal gambling business and money laundering.
The indictments and seizures were announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. Eleven bank accounts located in North Carolina, Guam, Panama, Malta, Portugal and The Netherlands were seized along with the domain names of the following Internet gambling sites:
    Bookmaker.com
    2Betsdi.com
    Funtimebingo.com
    Goldenarchcasino.com
    Truepoker.com
    Betmaker.com
    Betgrandesports.com
    Doylesroom.com
    Betehorse.com
    Beted.com.
It is illegal for internet gambling enterprises to do business in Maryland, regardless of where the website operator is located,” said U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein.
“We cannot allow foreign website operators to flout the law simply because their headquarters are based outside the country.”
The highlighted quote is the cue some country with balls needed to say "hey, self-aggrandizing prick, go fuck yourself". But that is probably ain'tevergonnahappen.com

A speck of good news concerning online poker legislation: Online Poker Federal Legislation is Drawn Up

This comes only days after Harry Reid drew up legislation for Nevada. It seems the government is working faster than we would have thought. I'm sure Harrah's has everything to do with this...and I don't care. GOGOGO corporate-run government!

Got this email yesterday from Bodog (also posted in Online Forums)

Look like Bodog is in the crosshairs.

"As of today, Tuesday, May 24th, you will find Bodog at its new home: www.bodog.eu.

You will find that all of your account information and any funds have automatically been transferred, and your account number (xxxxx) remains the same. The website as well as all of our services remain the same too.

Why the move? The www.bodog.eu address gives our brand a more permanent home as we continue to expand into new markets. We also anticipate the industry will be subject to ongoing fluctuating market conditions and we want to ensure we are prepared to manage them without any interruption to your play"

Here's the full text of HR 1174 "A BILL to amend title 31, US code, to provide for licensing of Internet gambling activities..." for anyone that's interested.

I haven't had a chance to review it yet, but I'll throw in my $0.02 after I do.

Edit: I don't know if anyone else has read this thing yet. I'm about half way done with it and I don't like what I'm reading. I'll post some comments as a new thread in "Online Poker" when I finsih, probably Saturday.

We acknowledge that our lack of communication reflects poorly on us, and rightfully so. We have been too optimistic in estimating how long it would take to sort through the issues we have faced since Black Friday. And as frustrating as the delays have been for us, we recognize that it cannot compare to the frustration you have been feeling.

We further recognize that our lack of communication has led to much speculation and many unsubstantiated rumors, which have often been contradictory. With this message, we hope to clear up as much confusion as we can, while at the same time keeping in mind the constraints imposed on us as a result of the cases brought in the Southern District of New York.

    The most pressing questions:

    1. When will the US players be paid?

We still do not have a specific timeframe for this. There has been, and remains, no bigger priority than getting US players paid as soon as possible, and we have been working around the clock to get this done.

    2. Is FTP bankrupt?

No. FTP's worldwide business is healthy and, although we've had some short-term challenges, it is operating as normal.

    From: http://www.gamblingcontrol.org/userf...2020110516.pdf

"The AGCC’s investigation into the affairs of it licensee Vantage Limited, trading as Full Tilt.com, is ongoing; initial investigations indicate no reason to believe that player fund transactions are fundamentally threatened by any consequence of the US authorities' actions. Delays caused by these actions are in the process of resolution, with normal service now being restored for non-US players. We understand that progress in respect of US player fund repatriation is anticipated and will be the subject of a separate statement from Full Tilt in due course. The Commission will remain engaged in this process."

    3. What is the company doing to speed up payouts to the US players?

We are raising capital to ensure that the US players are paid out in full as quickly as possible.

It is important to remember that Full Tilt Poker has always paid out our players, even in the face of previous legal obstacles or factors not in our control, such as payment processor defaults and prior actions by the US government which resulted in US player funds being seized.

In all of these previous instances, Full Tilt Poker has covered these losses and intends to do the same again.

    4. Why are the Full Tilt Pros remaining silent?

It is not their choice. But they are constrained by the pending legal actions.

As a final note, we understand -- and have always understood -- the effect that our brief statements have had not only on our customers, but also on our reputation. It has not been easy to stay silent and watch the damage being done to our company brand and personal reputations, but we need to be mindful of the complicated and serious legal issues raised in the pending cases.

as an aside, withdrawals for non-US players are turning up in bank accounts - so they at least have some liquidity.

QuickTender/UMW went under, website is down, all accounts suspended... or at least that's what the email said. Regardless, I'm out $300. Good christ this is fucking retarded. And the US rooms that are left are so bad in so many ways. I miss Stars like an ex girlfriend that gave good blowies.

Brazilian players haven't been able to get money out for about a month

Nick Rainey came on and had several outrageous/damning claims about FTP:
    1. He admits to ghosting someone to a $300K bink and that FTP shut the account down when it had no way of knowing it was him playing on it. The fact that this wasn't publicized and that money was possibly not given back to the players but instead personally confiscated by Ray Bitar is offered as proof money evaporating on FT. This is admittedly the more conflicted part of his interview.

    2. Apparently well-known in the HSNL community, Patrik Antonius had up to 40 accounts before he became a FT pro.

    3. Full Tilt sold 100% rakeback accounts for up to $50,000.

    4. As has been documented in the Clonie Gowen case, Rainey says much of the business done by Full Tilt was done without documentation; "handshake" deals that were later forgotten when it became convenient.

    5. Ray Bitar spent player funds on advertising for the 2010 WSOP.

    6. David Benyamine owed FT millions; a low-level rogue employee was apparently able to funnel him several million that he lost in nosebleeds.

    7. NoahSD of 2+2 and subjectpoker.com came on to tell Rainey to "STFU cheater," Rainey called him a 3-foot nerd with 20K 2+2 posts who's never been laid.

    8. Noah argued with QJ guy over whether or not Doyle was tipped off about DoJ raid. Conjecture followed that there was a $6 million debt owed to Cake that went toward for Doyle's live poker bankroll.
