I'm surprised. It's easier to get drugs in that state than it is to play a card game online for a few bucks?

    Another Full Tilt Statement

    14 September 2011
    By Godwin Maidment
Full Tilt has released another statement, this time detailing cost-cutting efforts. Pocket Kings plans to axe 250 jobs in Dublin to help cut costs by €12 million. The company also said that it is "fully committed" to returning the $150 million estimated to be owed to US players.
"On April 15th 2011 the United States Department of Justice unsealed a federal indictment against a number of individuals employed by major online poker operators. After the issuance of that indictment and a related civil case brought by the United States government, Full Tilt Poker withdrew from the US market. Then in a related action, on June 29th, 2011, Full Tilt Poker had its operating licenses suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.

As a result, Pocket Kings Ltd. (provider of marketing and technology services to Full Tilt Poker) has adopted a cost optimization program and estimates that they need to reduce their costs by approximately €12m. This program is intended to streamline the company’s operations in order to better position itself for future growth and profitability in Full Tilt Poker’s markets outside of the U.S.

If all of the required cost savings were to be achieved through redundancies, approximately 250 positions could be affected; however the exact number cannot be confirmed until the conclusion of a consultation process with its workforce.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Pocket Kings firmly believes it has a very strong future in Full Tilt Poker’s Non-US Markets, and is fully committed to ensuring Full Tilt Poker restores the site and repay players in full. To this end, Full Tilt Poker has retained Sea Port Group Securities, LLC as its financial advisor with regard to raising capital and/or assisting in securing a strategic partner in order to fund continued operations of Full Tilt Poker's non-U.S. business. The Company is in active discussions with several parties and will provide a further statement in due course."

i'm not a greedy person, so maybe i'm just wired differently to some other people. but seriously, why do people who are already millionaires and professional poker players, also holding top spots in a very very profitable business venture (namely, gambling - guaranteed profits), need to steal money from the poker community which made them in the first place. seriously, as if FTP in its hayday wasn't making enough in rake on a daily basis to pay all the employees and head honchos a decent and proportionate sum, and keep the players' money, from which they are bleeding their all their profits anyway, in separate accounts. this just blows my mind. i mean, they get it all in the end anyway. the only sure direction which money will flow in poker is down the hole. all they do is sit there while the player pool's money gradually goes from players' accounts to theirs. so i don't get it. but then again, i know fuck all about the operations of businesses and investment and all of that stuff.

Great link. No way are Ferguson, Lederer et al so stupid that they didn't know how company was structured or what they were getting themselves in to. Greedy cunts in the same bracket as the likes of Murdoch thinking they can do what the fuck they like.

Someone might want to start a thread for the White House Petition.

5000 signatures guarantees a response from the White House.

I can't post any links, but it is in NVG on 2+2 and PC on P5s for the link.

i'm $0 cash and about $6k worth of points stuck on FTP. I still think that players should get their $$ paid out before points, although it obviously works better for me in reverse

agree about $$ needs to be paid out before points, but i hope they give some kind of value for points in the end. It would be nice if they were able to do it like stars did and convert points at a set rate prior to making a 1 time cashout.

And i never understood why people waited and collected so many points? with that many, why didn't you just buy a bunch of BC cash bonus's?

these were only a recent option. And you can only clear so many $5k bonuses at a time. I used up a lot more points on bonuses than the points i now have left when i took a break and went to europe.

"Full Tilt Poker and Groupe Bernard Tapie Sign Acquisition Agreement

Dublin, Ireland (September 30, 2011) Laurent Tapie, Managing Director of ‘Groupe Bernard Tapie’ announced today that the group has signed an exclusive agreement with the Board of Directors of Full Tilt Poker to acquire the company and all of its associated assets.

This agreement, which includes the repayment of Full Tilt Poker’s world-wide players in full, is subject to several conditions; the first of which is a favorable resolution with the United States Department of Justice. Discussions with the United States Department of Justice will begin immediately.

‘Groupe Bernard Tapie’ has over 30 years of experience in the salvation of financially distressed businesses, with over 40 companies acquired and managed to profitability, the most well-known being the sport equipment giant, Adidas."

I'm sure the article didn't mention it because this phrase seems quite redundant.
