As a lifelong Packer fan that used to live in Wisconsin, he is just killing me. I liked watching him play like everybody else and appreciate that he helped turn around a franchise that was murder to watch as a kid, but no one forced him to announce his retirement, he could have said he was coming back. Now his actions appear really childish and put the Packers in a very tough spot. On the one hand, he probably still can play, but the team did what it had to and now has moved on. Thinking of guys like Namath and Montana, I don't think these things can ever end well. A big problem in this is the Vikings and Bears both need a quarterback.

I feel like I am watching the divorce of a good friends parents

he's pulling a Jordan?

you guys have to understand: its just tough to let go for some people.
The thing is, this is all he's done for 20+ years! live and die in the huddle, taking snap after snap, watching people catch and fumble it, etc
the competitive spirit does not die at will.

its tough. Some people struggle for relevancy post game, they will try and work in the booth, some as lead stickmen on the sidelines, but a few have trouble letting go off the trenches.

gl to him, anyway. i'd feel honored to be his starting right guard/tackle.

Yeah, I don't blame him for wanting to come back. The mistake these guys make is announcing their retirement right after the season's over. Of course you want to retire then! You've just been through a grueling five or six months, you haven't seen your family that much and your body's bruised and battered. But after four months of offseason you're bored out of your mind, you can't stand your family and your body doesn't feel all that bad. Favre hould have saved his retirement decision for the last possible minute, like he did last year (or the year before?), it would have spared everyone the drama.

yeah, im pissed at him doing this, but to be fair to him the packers pressured him into a decision a lot more this year.

if favre does go back i will be okay with it as long as its not for another team. its so rare to see a player stick with the same franchise his whole career (not counting his rookie season where he took like 20 snaps). peyton will probably do it, brady will probably do it, and thats about it.

The real question is why are the so called legendary packers treating their poster boy like this? This makes the Troy Williamson thing from last year look like dust in the wind.

Brett Favre has issues. He's more of a media whore than Curt Schilling. From the instant he announced his "retirement," it seemed clear to me that he needed to put himself back in the spotlight. The Packers were good last year, so the media backed off of the "Won't Favre Just Retire With Some Dignity?" story of the prior three seasons and was content to simply wait until training camp to start sucking him off again.

But he couldn't take that, so he manufactured something to get himself back in the news. Not for one second did I think that would be the end of it. This guy is such a phony and has been for the longest time.

It's being reported in Wisconsin that in late March, Brett asked if he could come back, MM and TT approved him coming back and chartered a plane for him to announce his return. At the last minute, he backed out. The team then prepares for life without him and now he wants to come back. What would you do if you were the Packers? I understand retirement is hard and when you do something your whole life at that level, sometimes you do need to be forced out, but Brett is leaving the organization no alternative than to take the actions they are taking. Also, the Packers Board of Directors supported moving on in late March.

Because they're more interested in winning football games than they are in doin' raht bah theiah boah Brett. He retired months ago! They've made plans for the future that don't involve him and it's too late for him to come back now. He's the one who started this mess, not the Packers.

It would never happen but I think it would be funny if he came back and the Packers made him their backup.

You honestly think the Packers will win more games with Rogers vs Favre this year? LOL. Favre retired because the organization didn't want him anymore.

Favre is an attention whore and does everything is his own best interest with no regard for how it affects his team or their future.

It's coming out now that Favre's recent desire to play again was a result of illegal interference by the Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevel's conversations with Favre over returning, and he wants his release to go specifically to the Vikings.

What is it with the Vikings and Packer veterans? Darren Sharper, Ryan Longwell, Robert Ferguson.. hell going all the way back to Bucky Scribener. It's like the Goodwill for old Packer players.

i hope he gets signed/traded to the redskins. all they need is a good qb to have a top 5 offense. oh AND NOT HAVE THE O-LINE DIE FROM INJURIES EVERY YEAR.
