I know the rule, don't drink while playing. But we all like a cold one with the boys at a home table, or after grinding out a few MTT/SNG's its good to chill with a brewski. I'm a beer fan, I brew my own at home, and love to many different varieties there are so here are some of my Fav's besides my own homebrew:
Anchor Steam
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (pale ales are great, the more Hopps the better)
Fat Tire out of a Colorado Microbrewery
Anything else out there good I should try, and don't thow that domestic crap out here either, if I want water I'll order a Aquafina!!!

I recently cut back on drinking a lot, as it screws with my sleeping so much.
However, my favorites are Dos equis, Duvel, Modelo especial, a bunch others. Fat tire on draft is a hell of a beer, but I don't like the bottle version.

I too homebrew beer, so I like a variety of styles, and mostly my own.
However, I'm a fan of Amber Bock, Guiness, and a local brewery around here called Thirsty Dog (check your local listings, they used to have a chain of restaurants) and their beer "Old Leghumper" which is a thick chocolate porter. It's a little peice of heaven in a glass bottle.
If their restaurants still exist, they brew one on site called Raspberry Leghumper. I would kill any of you on sight for a six pack of that. Okay, maybe not any of you... but a good share.

Nowadays if I am wanting a drink its a Hefeweisen, most any variety but lately I'm a cheap date...one beer and I'm over the top, no way I could play poker and drink.
Growing up as a teen and in the service though, different story...where I came from it was definately quantity>quality and Busch Light was where it was at. Had a run of Keystone Light days when Keystone first came out and natural light is actually a really good easy drinking beer for those days when you want to drink all day outside playing in the sun.

Love Sierra Nevada.
Is it Fat or Flat Tire? Either way I just tried it when in Seattle recently . Tasty.
Boring Bud Light is my everday beer, but actually Bud Select is a little better and less heavy then Bud. Michelob Amber Boch isn't bad either and is often the same price on tap.

I'd like to think I'm not spoiled but I really can't stand to drink 'regular ole' beer like budwieser. It has a generally weak taste but I guess if your drinking allot of it you don't want the taste to be to extreme.
Having said that, I also like good ol' no. 33, that's Rolling Rock for the uninitiated. Its somewhere inbetween 'common' beer and a microbrew and its a very light beer you can drink allot of. I will generally choose this if they are serving it at whatever bar I'm at.
My friend from Allentown, PA got me hooked on it back 10 years ago but I don't drink it much these days. I think maybe it has fallen in popularity?

If I'm flush with cash: Boddington's, Guiness, Caffery's
If I'm doin okay money-wise: Sleeman's, Rickard's, Amsterdam Nut Brown(mmm)
If I have some spare change: Alexander Keith's IPA
If I just want to forget how destitute I am: a 40 of Olde English, Bull Max, or Shlitz.
Right now I'm drinking the last of a slightly disgusting bottle of Kittling Ridge Shiraz-Cabernet. The taste makes me want to punch things.

Anchor Porter
Any Stout... Dry, Oatmeal, Coffee, Imperial, etc.
I still love Malt Liquor even when not playing Edward 40 hands
Full heartedly agree High Life is the champagne of beers
Currently drinking Coors Lite which runs neck and neck with Natty Lite in terms of quantity vs. quality IMO. Pretty drunk, going to casino, going to get even more drunk, going to play poker and kick ass. Poker/Drinking rules don't apply to me because my name is Gabe. Err.. I mean I rule. I will kick ass. bye.

If I'm poor, Milwaukee's Best or Natty Ice...fuck Keystone or Lion's Head...god, that shit's the worst. Anyone from PA knows what I'm talking about with Keystone...that is pretty much the official college beer of PA...

Well, I went to college a few years back in the small city of Chico, CA, which is probably most well-known for two things: our school, which has consistently been ranked as the #2 party school in the country by Playboy, and the Sierra Nevada Brewery (which is the biggest business in that city, I think). Anyway, I've had many experiences with drinking Sierra Nevada Wheat and playing cards, good beer, hard to find anywhere else but in Chico -- although, the Pale Ale is all over the place.
A couple of other great ones:
Smithwicks Irish

Hey djanvk. You are in Illinois, so it might not be too much trouble, but try to find Boulevard Beer. Local brewery out of Kansas City. They have a seasonal called Bob's 47. It's a Munich Lauger that I will kill for.
|
|
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...

I owuld like to revise my previous post and say alcohol is evil and my head still hurts from last nite, so does my stomache.
Also theres nothign like a 40 minute car ride with your parents at 10am and you are trying not to puke and as soon as you get home you pike in your garbage can in your room becasue you dont want your parents know you have been drinking even tho for the entire care ride you smell strongly of puke and 13dollar half gallon rum.
