There was once a time when I would have agreed with you, but now, I honestly do not know.
Once upon a time, I fell in love with one of these women. At the time, I was pretty aware that she was trouble, and I tried my damnedest to not love her, but no matter what, I did. At that point in time, I was even opposed to developing that kind of relationship on a personal level, but that didn't stop me from how I felt. I've regularly described it as my brain telling me what was right, yet my heart overruled.
This experience obviously turned out bad, and it hurt me something deep. Not necessarily because of anything specific about the situation, but because of what it taught me about myself. I became disillusioned to my own shortcomings. I had previously considered myself the master of my domain, and that all my decisions were cold and calculated. But then this hussy came along and threw my game plan topsy turvy, and I felt helpless to stop it. Emotions are not rational. This experience actually turned me quite sour towards women. Not because of them, but because of myself, and how I felt that my emotions could so easily succumb to what I knew to be wrong.
Aside from the personal story, spotting the bad ones isn't as easy as many think. Not only are our perceptions actually pretty awful, but we're bred to misdirect; especially women. I know this idea that women are natural liars is often discarded as a silly stereotype, but there is actually loads of truth to it. I will never suggest that man aren't liars, or that all women are, but let me illustrate my point...
The evolutionary development of sex and male/female relationships in women are heavily built around gestation, child rearing, and men. What I mean by this is that due to the massive energy and time it takes to make babies that can survive to make their own babies, a woman needed a man to stick around for several years. She would carry and raise the child while he would provide them a roof and bring them food.
But what was to keep this man around? As is with nearly all heterosexual sex relationships in the mammalian world, the male is in it for the sex, and when that sex goes, so does he. So what this created with humans was women who would trade a long term sexual relationship for the man's resources, and thus he would stick around long enough for her to push out a couple little shit machines.
One of the most plausible ways in which this was selected for was for women to essentially LIE to their man. They didn't necessarily want sex, but because they knew that's what he wanted, and that if he didn't get it he was going to move on, they would engage in it despite some of their feelings. Why do you think so many women have regular sex yet do not achieve satisfaction? Where do you think the whole fake orgasm thing comes from? Even things like makeup are a byproduct of the elaborate evolutionary scheme that provokes women to lie to men.
So I think that women often actually try pretty hard to manipulate men they're interested in, whether they know it or not. It's in their genes. I find it kinda hard to fault a guy for falling for a chick who turns out to be crazy. Sometimes it's obvious, but sometimes it's not. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that this explains all aspects of sex or lying, but that it's an important aspect within the context, and I'm not saying that all women are like this.
And while the OP is obviously partial hyperbole (I don't actually think that women are evil), my motivation for making it is based in yet again seeing this manipulation wreak havoc on a man's emotions. My closest friend has bent over backwards for this chick, but the stupid cunt doesn't know what's good for her and has been doing the whole manipulation thing until she recently decided to come clean about the fact that she is indeed a stupid cunt who doesn't know what's good for her
And another side point about how women are evolutionarily predisposed to lying to men they claim to care about: they're bad at being alone. Like really bad, it seems that they even fear it. The evolutionary reason for this likely has to do with the massive resources it requires to bear children and thus the massive negative that rape then becomes. I speculate that the main reason why it seems that women almost always have at least a boyfriend is due to this. I've even known loads of women who have boyfriends that they don't actually like a whole lot, but because they're scared to death of being alone, they stay with them while secretly looking for somebody better. Talk about lying

FWIW i think there are just as many evil men as there are women. Ive been fucked over by way more guys than girls, but maybe thats because im a lot more picky about getting into a relationship with a girl than i am about becoming friends with a guy.

This has been my experience in life...I think over all people put less value on stable relationships no matter what that relationship is; friends, wife, girlfriend. It seems we are more a nation based on where can we go in life or where we are instead of who is in our lives. Which is kind of a sad conclusion to come to. I mean look at all the people who hate on their parents joking or otherwise. I know this is kind of getting away from intentions of OP but I lack a rationalization for this specific topic on a much broader scale.

It's over, and I'm very pleased that he's now finally stopped blaming himself for her personal problems. But seriously, this situation was actually the kind you'd see in some romantic novel or something. A woman's wet dream. But because this chick has been the victim her whole life, she apparently doesn't know how to do anything else.
As a side point about not knowing what women are attracted to, a series of studies came out a while back examining what stimulates the sexes, and in one of the studies they found that men are all stimulated the same way in a predictable pattern. Basically, they were very visual, very specific, and the genitals and brain both reacted the same to the same stimulus.
However, women were found to be nothing like this. Not only was there little rhyme or reason to what stimulated them, but their brains and genitals didn't often sync up. For example: whenever dudes were shown certain pictures, both the brain and genitals reacted, but when women were shown certain pictures, oftentimes just one of those reacted. Sometimes their genitalia would react, but the brain would do nothing, and other times their brains would react, but the genitalia would do nothing.
To this day, the scientists, many of whom were female, still don't have much conclusion on what sexually stimulates women
