This is Boondocks brother but he wrote this message on a piece of paper in his hospital bed and he wanted me to enter it.
I have terrible news. On Sunday I had a terrible skydiving accident that should have killed me but I survived with a broken femur and probably knee injuries that I won't know about until I can move my leg. I hit the ground going around 40 mph - dug a 4 inch deep -2ft long hole with my knee into very hard ground then flew 36 feet before landing where the ambulance got me. Anyway this is what I need help with - Some of you know I booked a cardplayer cruise for August 14-21st. Soupie, Dav Simon, Scgolfer, and Radashack are going. I need to sell it. You would be staying with Radashack. It was close to $1100 and I'll give it to any of you for $750. It leaves and comes back to seattle. It is pretty much impossible for me to go. I also did not have health insurance so I am facing financial anhilation as it is and I would really like to sell this. If you are interested please PM me right away since this is soon with your phone number and name. My brother will check my messages a couple of times a day and I will contact you and we can discuss this. Please Please pass this on to every one you know who may be interested. I really need your help on this! Thanks!!

Dude, that's insane. Is your skull, abdomen/chest and spine ok? What went wrong? Sounds like you're lucky to get out of this with just a gimped knee long-term.
Best of luck to you,

OMG.
Boondock, that's devastating news. Glad you're alive!
I wish you all the best for a full recovery.
Boon: Do you only want {edit} people to know about this cruise offer? You may have better luck finding someone in time to take your place if we ask around in IRC / Ventrilo.

Hey Everyone:
This is Dave's brother again. He told me to tell you thanks for all your love. He said you can ask whoever you want about the cruise. He needs to get it transfered to someone else fast. Remeber you have to find your own way to seattle. As for the actual crash - He was swooping when he was skydiving. i don't know much about skydiving but i guess you normally do it over the water when you are swooping because if you make a mistake you can hit the ground very hard. Well he swoops over ground and he did make a mistake. I was at the crash site and there was noway my brother should have survived. The ground there is extemely hard there, its like some type of clay almost. When he hit, he landed on his knees. They both went about 4-5 inches in the ground and his one knee that he broke his femur on drug about 4 feet and the other knee about two. Then somehow he popped out of the ground and landed 36 ft away. Everything else with his body is fine. He says his knee hurts a lot and he thinks there might be something screwed up with it but he can't get x-rays right know because of the no-insurance. It was a pure miracle from God that he survived. My mother and I have been praying for his safety ever since he started. Its scares me just because I know how dangerous it is and obviously I don't want to live my life without my only brother. Anyway, thanks for all your support. Whatever you guys can come up with would be great. Thanks again!!

I'm moving this out to Community. There's not much time before the cruise, so I think it's best we announce it publicly.
IRC / Ventrilo people: Please ask around.
ALL: Preferably, the taker of the cruise package should know Soupie, DavSimon, scgolfer and Radashack.
Boon/Boon's brother: Thanks for the info update. Hang in there.

Hi again:
He is actully here at his house now because we had to leave the hospital sooner then later because he had no insurance. They put a titanium rod in his leg and sent us on our way basically. He lives in zip code 46544 by Notre Dame. We are about 10 minutes away from the University. He says if any of you want to visit just PM your phone # and he will call you with exact directions. Thanks!!

This was Soupies idea....I am just running with it. Since Boondock has insurance issues perhaps we could set up a benefit tournament on Poker Stars....have a 20+2 buyin maybe even just 10+1....whatever will get the most participation - and have 50% of the winnings go to the top three and 50% would be set aside for Boondock and his family.
I can set up a private tourney and email Stars to see if they can accomodate us in this....but I figured since you guys have an affiliate agreement with them you have better contacts and more pull than I would. What do you think Xainti, Eric, TTanaka.....do you think this is something we could get off the ground on short notice?

I think this is a fantastic idea. Of course, the level of participation will be key. We need to agree on a time that will bring the most players.
As for the location, Stars is not the most accommodating when it comes to custom configurations for private tourneys. I would like to have it there, as Stars would likely draw more participants than Absolute, but I don't have a personal relationship with them like I do with Absolute. I haven't written to PokerStars in a long time.
I'll see what I can do, however. Keep the ideas coming. I'd love to arrange anything we can to help Boondock and his family out.

Xianti, I agree that Stars would probably draw more people....however if Absolute will be more accomodating and helpful in this matter then I'm sure people can set aside thier prejudices for this one tournament to support Boondock Saint.
Perhaps Thursday August 11th at either 9 or 10 pm Eastern US time would be a good day. That way it would not conflict with the Gauntlet and since it is not Friday more people would be inclined to participate. (won't conflict with weekend plans) It would also give us six days to spread the word about the torney. We could post the tourney invitation on Pocket Fives and 2+2....obviously we would just be looking for sheer numbers to participate.
I will be out of the house today until 3-4pm eastern time....If you could contact your Absolute person that would be great....if you would like me to write a letter to Poker Stars I would be glad to do it....just let me know how I can help to push this foreward.

Boon, I can't help out with the cruise but I will set aside Tuesday the 16th in your honor and ship 50% of my poker winnings up to 250$ over to help out with the hospital bills.
Anyone else want to join in on BoonTuesday? Set your own percentage and max and help a fellow FTR brother out.

I was thinking that, too. Should we do that?
EDIT: Why don't we just transfer our donations via Neteller to his account? Doesn't Neteller let you do that? We just need to get Boon's Neteller ID or something. How does it work? Anyone know?

PM us all on his email, rather than a post? So we can Neteller him if we can't make the tourney.
And, my 2 cents, the tourney should be open without any preregistering, if we can swing that, so we can pick up players that don't frequent message boards.

I agree. That can be done most easily at Stars. I need to find out from them if they can set aside a percentage of the prize pool for this charity.

Hey everyone:
This is Dave's brother again. Thanks for all your help!! Its seems like all you guys no exactly what your doing. He appreciates all your help. Its lifting his spirits to know he has all of you backing him up. He can't get out of bed for awhile but I'm ganna try to get a 40 or 50 ft network cable somewhere so then maybe I could connect a computer right by his bed so he can chat with you guys. I know a few of you were asking what it was. If you have anymore questions I would be happy to answer them for you. Thanks again!

My condolences. All of these ideas sound great. I think as long as none of the money is taxed too heavily by any third party, it's a good idea.
For example, I know paypal takes their cut (3 or 4 % i believe) which can add up over a larger sum. I have a feeling neteller has a similar peer to peer setup.
If it's cheaper to send money via card room transfers, that might be better. I'd hate to think the money set aside for someone's well being is being raked by e-wallets and casinos.
I'll be looking back here for more info on how to help. And best wishes to you boon.

card room transfers would turn into a whole nother animal. Officially, they don't cost anything, but when you try to withdraw the money without having played any hands, they harass you. Neteller would be the easiest and is easier on teh funds transfer amounts than paypal.
