Hopefully it has never happened to you, but I got robbed today. No freaking crap. They went straight for my GF's jewelry, took my PS2, all of my games (10), all of my DVDs (25), and some medicine we had laying around the house (like Tylenol 3 w/ codine). They left two digital cameras behind, 300+ CDs, and didn't touch much else.

We had a TV that isn't hooked up sitting in our dining room, a new stereo system we still haven't set up in our living room, and all sorts of other pretty cool crap laying around that they DID NOT TAKE. Basically, they just took the small stuff that they could carry away on foot. What a bunch of f-ckers.

We have insurance, so I'll get everything back plus have some money left over, so that's cool....Crappy thing is some of my GFs jewelry can't be replaced. Anyway, has it ever happened to you?

P.S. TONIGHT WAS POKER NIGHT TOO DAMMIT, DIDN'T KNOW WE HAD BEEN ROBBED UNTIL 7PM AND THE POKER GAME STARTS AT 8PM. HAD TO CALL THE COPS AND FILE A REPORT AND CRAP.

I'm not bitter about that or anything. Thought about going to play poker anway, but I don't think the GF would have liked that. <JK>

This is why I coat everything in my house with Ricin.

You've gotta be careful when you want to touch anything but if anyone tries to steal my shit, jokes on them.

Had my car stolen about 5 weeks ago. Right out of my parking garage that I park at for work. The police found it 2 days later with about as little damage as you could have with a stolen car (broken window molding to slide something in to pop the lock up and a peeled steering column). Had it repaired for the price of my deductible. Had it back for one day from the shop and my wife drove it into a ditch during a snow storm. Now either the undercarriage or frame is bent and I'm looking at at least the price of an other deductible for repairs.

Yeah, that's kinda what happened to my house...They took my GF's jewelry, my PS2, games, and DVDs, but NOTHING else. They left our PCs, stereo, DVD player, 19 inch TV that isn't hooked up, and two digital cameras. They didn't mess anything in the house up, either, besides throwing my GF's jewelry box and spreading out her stuff on the bed. I couldn't believe that. If I'm going to have the nerve to rob somebody, I'm going to absolutely trash their house looking for whatever I can find. They put things back NEATLY, besides the jewelry. Weirdos.

No, house was locked...but our locks suck. We just moved into the place two months ago, we asked our landlord about our crappy locks, and he said "he'd work on getting new ones." We have two deadbolts on the front door, but our basement and back doors are just handle locks. Handle locks can be picked with a screwdriver or a credit card, so if somebody wants to come in, it's not that difficult.

My first phone call when I found out we got robbed? Not the cops, but to my landlord, telling him that we got jacked and there was no forced entry. He's my best friend's father, so he felt like a total schmuck b/c he didn't change the locks like he said he would.

Luckily we have insurance. We'll probably actually make $1000 or so off of this. The DVDs and some PS2 games I won't replace, and I'll get $300 for the PS2 and they're only $150 now. So its not so bad.

never had my house broken into, but 2 days after moving to Vancouver, some jerkoff stole my car stereo... while the alarm was armed, and he didn't even have the decency to unscrew the deck, he cut it outta my dash with a potato peeler, 2400$ worth of repairs.

So...We got robbed a month and a half ago, and that sucks. Somebody came into our house and took my PS2, games, DVD's, and all of my girlfriend's jewelry. If I ever find the guy that did it, that robbed us while we were at work, ohh man, you know what I'll do?

I will shake his hand. That's right. I will shake his hand.

We just got our final insurance check in the mail today, for a grand total of $3600. That is ridiculous. I hardly ever played my PS2. The DVDs? Hell, I hadn't opened half of them and had probably only watched one-third of them. My GF's jewelry? Well, there were a couple pieces that she wishes she still had, but overall, it wasn't that important to her, the money is a little better...

So, some dude comes in my house and takes $3600 worth of stuff from me that I don't use....and then the insruance company gives me $3600 for it? My only problem is that the guy didn't take *more* of the stuff we didn't use.

Anyway....Just thought I'd give an update. Sometimes it's actually okay to get robbed.

You live in 'crime'dotte county. My surprise is you weren't robbed sooner.

Seriously, I'm sorry. It really sucks!
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.

A few months back, had my car broken into... The jerks who did it stole my deck, subs, amp and box. They took my little change drawer hehe... they also took all my cds and made a big mess. Since my trunk latch was locked, they broke everything trying to get to the trunk, and successfully did. Trunk lock was busted out, along with passenger side door lock. Unfortunately, I don't have fancy insurance, so guess whos pocket the whole thing came out of It really blows doesn't it? These stupid kids steal stuff, pawn it, and buy crack... Its just how the world goes...... oh, and one of the thiefs had the nerve to smoke a cigarette in my car(I dont smoke) and then leave the butt burrning on my seat... Assholes.

Ive been robbed twice, once at gunpoint.

I was helping my sister out at her store and this dude held me up. I knew that once that gun came out that the money ceased to be my sisters problem and became the insurance company's problem, so I did what every man should do...

I broke his wrists and told him to never eff with me again.

I've never had my house robbed but I've been mugged walking down the street a bunch of times. The problem is I really like walking home super late at night. And I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I think it's one of the most enjoyable things a person can do. A 3 or 4 hour walk at the end of your night can really give you some great time to just relax. The problem is learning to carry a little bit of money (so you don't get beat up) but not too much (so you're sad).

My old house was robbed once before I was married. They broke into the basement and really took a bunch of useless crap.

I'm not sure if I'd get robbed now. Someone is usually always home. My father in law runs his mortgage business in the beasment. And I have 3 dogs (each over 75lbs.) that can hear a mosquito fart. And two of the dogs (60lb. Pitbull and 100lb. American Bulldog) will bite. And that's if I don't shoot first.

I used to carry a pocket knife with me, but our city also has an incredible record of police harrasment (under amnesty international watch). It's actually silly to the point that I'll cross the street to walk past shady characters rather than walking past the police. The last thing I need is to get searched illegally and then get some kind of "concealed weapon" charged trumped up.

My friend's dad told us a story about his old college buddy getting robbed.
The guy owns a grocery store and hides a gun under the counter. Someone takes a gun out, and takes everything. He starts to run away, he pulls out the gun and shoots him. He hits a nerve, and the guy is paralyzed. The robber sues his friend, and he has to pay monthly to support the place where he lives. It is way more than it would have been had he let the guy go.
The cop felt terrible for the guy who owned the store. He said half jokingly "It would have been better had you dragged the guy back into the store."

cassette I just saw that you are in Canada, i guess you cant carry a weapon legally...

Kingdan, things like that are why you are usually told (even by police) that if you have to shoot someone, shoot to kill. It is unfortunate. I have a friend who is a policeman, shot through the windsheild of a car that was trying to run him down. He hit a passenger and now signs over about 1/4 of each check to this person.
