I was playing poker on WillHill and thought i'd check out their casino.
Only put £10 on to mess around.
Played Blackjack for 45mins and won £80. Withdrew my £90 and went back to poker(where i came out roughly evens).
I know how to play BJ and didn't bother with a chart or anything.
It seems really easy to make money. I'm thinking off playing some more to see how i get on and build my bankroll.
ANyelse play? Can it really be this easy?
I'm worried i'll become a degenate gambler (i kid myself my poker addiction isn't gambling, it's money management....)
I'm gonna play soem BJ this weekend, i'll let you know how i get on if anyones interested....

Only play for a bonus, otherwise the house will eventually eat you up and spit you out.

Hell yea, it's that easy. Everybody wins at black jack. That's why there are all those casinos in vegas and online. Everyone is demanding to win money and they let them.

yeah yeah, thanks for the sarky comments!
it did seem to me like other people were playing stupid. ..Going bust when they should stand, standing when they should hit etc,
Of course i know its tipped in favour of casino...just seemed real easy when i played for short time.
It's boring to play...but i'm gonna give it a go for a couple of hours see how i get on.
I'll let you know when i make my millions or i'm in the gutter

Worst invention ever, BJ capability while playing poker. Take my advice and RUN - i've lost over $3k because of boredom, card-dead and the very easy beginning wins all while playing poker!!!

I was playing sequence which is a card, board game where you are dealt 6 cards and I kept looking at it like poker hands...I think I'd get too excited if the dealer dealt me AA in blackjack to even know what to do with it.

There are BJ bonuses that can be +EV, but not playing for a bonus is a BAD idea.
I wish there were more of those risk free bonuses like last year. I pulled down ~$5000 US from those.

Will, check out what bonus Willhill offers for casino play (or, sticking with Crypto, I know Intercasino has decent bonuses). If the bonus is attractive enough, you can play BJ with +EV but I'm sure you'll quickly realise how lucky you ran.

Black Jack is infact the only casino game where the odds are in your favour. However, You need to have memorized the chart and play it to the letter.
Even then, you have to plough through something like $5000 to win $50.
Avoid these games and stick to poker where skill can beat luck over the long term.

True story... before I discovered poker, I used to do a lot of sports betting online. The site I used was partnered with a casino, and one day I took ten bucks and took it to play a few hands of blackjack.
I got on a hot run, and ran that ten bucks up to around 900 bucks in a couple hours.
then, the variance caught up with me, and I lost the 900, plus a couple hundred more from my account. It was my first case of "Tilt."
I haven't played it since.

This is not true. The odds are less bad for you is all. No casino would put a game out there where over time they will be the ones losing money. In fact, it's even the dealer's job to tell you how to properly play your hand if you need help.

My phd supervisor was a card counter in BJ. You can get an edge at a live casino and ONLY by being IMMENSLY clever, counting and playing an advanced system i don't understand. The chart you are talking about makes you more winning than the average guy, but still house always wins.
The edge is insignificant to the one you can get playing a fish at poker, and insufficient to justify the risk of being caught card counting at a casino.

The odds arent in your favour. If you play perfect strategy then the casino still has a 0.5%+ edge depending on what rules you use. You have an edge if you count cards but that isnt possible online.

QFT. And you do marginally better at craps if you lay full odds on the pass line and play a couple of come bets with max odds too. But you need a big BR and it's still -EV, just only ~0.2% or so.

My bad. Pelion is spot on. For some reason I thought the half percent was in favour of the player.
Has anyone ever tried card counting in a casino. Christ, it's an art form!! I just find it impossible with the speed that the dealers go at.
You still in Southampton Pelion?

Single jack Blackjack is sliiiiiiightly +EV even without counting, right?
Anyway dont do it. Whore bonuses or play poker. Or both ftw.

Nope its -EV. Thats why they have it in casinos. All casino games are biased in favour of the house

Casino blackjack usually use more than one deck, don't they? Some casinos dealing single deck bj change the payout on a player blackjack from 3:2 to 6:5, making the game -EV.
I think you can find some single deck blackjack games with good rules on some sites online, though. Using the WoO calculator I get a 0.18% player advantage using a single deck and standard rules. Removing resplit option takes the advantage down to 0.15%, while removing the possibility to double after a split gives the house an advantage.

I used to count cards at casinos using Ken Uston's Advanced Point Count system and it took me awhile to master it, but eventually I could do it and still have conversations, look around the casino a little, etc. Since I was playing $5 tables and only raising my bet to $50 at the very most when the count was in my favor, the dealers/pit bosses/casinos never seemed to care. It had to be pretty obvious I was counting... I paid close attention to all the cards, I played perfect basic strategy and would vary my bets widely, mainly by betting huge at the end of certain shoes. Once in Reno, the subject of counting came up at the table and a friend I was playing with (who was varying his bets along with mine) said, "Come on, you could never count an 8-deck shoe!" And the dealer said, "Really? Your friend over here is doing it." So at least up to certain bet sizes, casinos just don't care. Eventually I stopped counting b/c it gives you such a small edge and it takes a lot of concentration, which I'd rather lose taking advantage of the free drinks.

If you multitable like 8 BJ tables you can even out the variance and make a profit.

1) Multitable 8 tables and then after say 10 mins leave the ones youre running bad at but stay at the ones youre running good at.
2) profit?

I tried blackjack again. And lost £30 in about 5mins.
I also went all-in on the 5-6 off suit i had on the poker game i had going at same time(fucked up mind thought," 11 = good hand, double down. Shit i've gone all in"). Managed to hit trips so who cares........the text from the bloke who called with KK was quite funny though.
I'm not bothering with BJ anymore. I'm still up roughly £40 and i'll leave it at that. I can officially say I'm a winning player at online BlackJack now. ...

I've never played BJ online but I play in casino's all the time.
If your a poker player, BJ is definately a bad thing since its a higher paced game. WIth Poker, patience is very important since you may wait hours for a playable hand. With BJ, your IN every hand. If you jump from one game to the other, your poker game will tend to suffer.
Also, in reference to having the best of the game......
The house will always have the advantage. If you play absolutely perfect BJ, meaning splitting, DD, and hitting when your supposed to, you minimize the house advantage to 52%. Then you have to understand progressive betting, to give yourself a chance to win.
All in all, you should stick to one game.
Remember, BJ is a game of luck, and Poker is a game of skill.
You make your choice,
-Shep!

LOL! Every game is easy when the cards fall right... Do not try to earn money through bj... The only way you could win in long run is counting and in many casinos it's very hard.

Question regarding this . . got a mailshot and CD the other day from a company Blackjack Ballroom offering me a free £500 to play with and keep any winnings I make above the 500. So I went and played some this afternoon, made £68 on top of the 500 somehow - mind I was up 200 odd at one stage, but it now says I have to deposit to get anything back.
What I want to know I guess is if I deposit a tenner will I be able to then just withdraw it back and the 68 or will I have to then wager a load more? Has anyone ever got a similar letter?

Well yeah I guessed that but I'm perplexed that I got the letter and CD in the first place. I'm guessing I have to deposit and then wager a shedload more to withdraw anything.

Terrible bump. When I hit 1500 posts or whatever I should have made a "how to make a good first post" post.
Anyway, welcome. There's a lot more going on here than BJ. Unless it involves bigred, then it's mostly BJ.
