Alright.... if people are gonna do stuff like that, this post is going to become completely pointless... let me point out why I think Ventrilo is better...
Paltalk Pros: Free, "blocks out" multiple talking
Paltalk Cons: adware adware adware... its full of annoying adware that said, it also has poor sound quality, just overall to me seems like a scaled down version of ventrilo.
Skype Pros: Free, voice quality is good, "open mics"
Skype Cons: Only 5 users max, you are always talking and everything is heard, when people talk at the same time, there is interfereance.
Ventrilo Pros: Hosted, Great sound quality, ability to contol various sound options through the program, "hot key".
Ventrilo Cons: Costs money to get hosted
If you have question post them, if you don't think that FTR should use ventrilo please let me know so I don't pay again for next month... Thanks

Maybe make this a poll and have Xianti sticky it to get feedback from all the voice chat users so we can decide where to go. My .02.

Bah, you lousy bunch of CS junkies!
I want a voice chat program that doesn't confuse me when i click 'Setup', PalTalk gives me that, Vent is a load of jibber jabber PC language.

I like paltalks ability to "chat" so you can include people who do not have mics (or malfunctioning mics)....but the sound quality is horrible and the ads are annoying.
On my system at least Skype has by far the best sound quality and has an easy interface. I know who is talking without looking at the screen (low distortion)
Ventrillo should be the choice since it allows more than 5 people in a room or confrence call. The sound quality varies for me, but that could be the server (I don't know).....however the sound quality blows away pal talk. I have not logged on to the new server yet, but if you can set up multiple rooms like on the previous server so that we can have "private" conversations if need be then I'm all for it.
Thanks for taking the initiative in setting this up

Vent could use a good setup guide for the PC impaired, but it works fine.
Paltalk is doable, but the low quality and annoyance factor make it unfavorable in my book.
TeamSpeak is another good quality/non-addware program and may be yet another posibility (typed chat capabilities too) - Hosting is an issue here as well however.

To hit some of you guys back.....
Dav - There is going to be multiple rooms like before, I will be setting up private chat rooms, etc. Also, the sound quality on this server should be much better because the sound codec used is of a much better quality. Also, ventrilo has a simliar chat feature that can be used for people who don't have mics. Though you have to open up another window for the feature to work, you can have the chat be "read" to you by the computer by using the text-to-speech feature.
Spook - TeamSpeak and Ventrilo are essentailly the same thing, Ventrilo is just more popular. If you get on to ventrilo, I can help you with almost any set-up/configurations you need, but here are a few basics for the time being....
There is a set-up button on the right hand side of the main screen that allows for in detail configuration.
Voice Tab - You should have the enable outbound voice communications box checked. As for communication set-up Ventrilo allows you to do this in one of two ways. Either have what they call a "hot key" which is a key you press to talk. Or you can configure it so it begins transmitting when a sound starts going through the microphone. To use the hot key, check the use-to-talk hot key check box. Next, go down to the box that says hotkey, and you can change which button you want the hotkey to be. For the sound sensitivity, unckeck the use to talk hot key, and adjust the sensitivity and silence time features to make it to your liking. The higher the sensitivity is, the louder the noise has to be to start transmitting, and the the silence time determines how long you have to be silent until the transmission stops. You can change the output, input, and other sound devices on the right. I wouldn't really mess with these unless you know what you are doing, choosing the wrong one can give you bad/no sound quality. Below that you can configure the amplifications through the program either turning up your output sound or turning up incoming sounds.
Events Tab - Personally, I turned off all the events that can happen in Ventrilo.. For every event listed, you can have one of three options, have it play a fancy wave file, have the computer say a text-to-speech blurb, or nothing. The only one I have on, is the text-to-speech when a user joins the channel because that is the only one that is useful. (in my opinion)
The last tab I would worry about is the Misc. tab... the others don't need to be changed for the most part. In the Misc. tab, you can configure Ventrilo to do a few other things. First off, you can have it minimize to the system tray. (where your computer clock is in the lower right hand corner) The middle two are nothing special. The last one will make it so every channel is expanded when you join the ventrilo server so you can see who is in ever channel. I wouldn't bother changing the last option in the Misc. tab, because the program operates fine at the "normal" processing level, no need to catogorize it as high priority.
I hope this helps everyone out...

Yeah, but it was cool for some guy to show up and yell NIIIGAAAAAAH (note that he said "niggah" and not "nigger" which makes all the difference apparently)
