That someone was trying waaaayyy too hard to impress everyone? Did it ever strike you as funny that, no matter the situation, the thing that they say happened to them is seemingly always amazing? Like it was meant to make you say, "Wow, that's amazing"?

Did you ever wonder why it was that the person was always a black belt, always valedictorian, always nailing the hot chick, always wise beyond his years, always a tougher drinker than you, always had a much cooler car when he was younger than the one he has now, and so on?

You know the type...they feel so compelled to be impressive that they have blurred the line between fantasy and truth, and probably don't even recognize when they're lying anymore?

That's all I'll say.

Ive known a couple of people that were habitual compulsive liars - one was my dads childhood friend and another was my neighbor for about 3 years before he moved

it is extremely annoying and you want to bust em on it everytime then they just make up some other crap that half the time doesnt even make sense but they will never say they were lying - eventually it seems like everyone ends up either hating them, ignoring them, or both. I actually knew one other one in high school i had forgotten about and he was the only person out of like 300 something people that was clearly BOOed walkin across

Yes...that's the type I'm talking about!

Seems like they are always fishing for compliments about their various "acheivements"...like the superhot girlfriend that nobody has ever met, for example..........

when i was in high school, there was this kid who did this kind of thing all the time.

he claimed to have leukemia so we would all feel bad for him and be nice to him cause we thought he was dieing and everything... he even shaved his head, arms, legs, and eyebrows to make us all think he was getting chemo.

one day, we found out it was all a lie and he was taken away for psyciatric evaluation and treatment and what not... never saw the guy again...

it was sad really... some of the stuff he said was really out there, but who shaves there head and tells everyone that they have cancer to get attention?

yea i got a buddy who messaged ALL of his old "buddies" to tell us that he was working full time and going to culinary school, and that it was so awesome. I messaged my other friend like "dude what the hell was that, did he msg you too"

I don't even consider him a friend
take your ego out of the equation and judge the situation dispassionately
