Cops - 1, Bad Guys - 0
At first I thought you were going to link the vid that a cop had with the crazy Vietnam veteran guy, in which the cop died. That video is by far worse, and made me cringe.

Wow, what the fuck was the (now dead) guy thinking? The cop wasn't even getting shitty with him, it seemed like he might have got off with a warning until the I've drunk plenty of beer comment. Crazy bastard got what he deserved imo.

woah.. that was not a small gun. Listen to the drivers gun, then listen to what Im assuming is the cops 9mm. Id guess that was a 45.. And Im also guessing that when the gun was pointed directly at the cops head the trigger was pulled, but the drunk guy forgot to turn the safety off. That cop was def lucky.

I woulda reloaded and emptied another clip (actually wouldn't due to distance, range, sight etc, but still)
I wouldn't be surprised if the guy ran into the telephone poll due to the emptied clip into his backside. Drunk driver + discharging firearm with intent to injure/kill = game over

I considered that possibility at first but if the criminal gets away there'll be a maniac on the loose who has nothing to lose as he knows that if caught, he's going down for life for attempted police murder.

If he emptied the clip into a corpse, that would be too much. I don't see anything wrong with this.

Dead man wouldn't be dead if he didn't forget to take safety off.

ya. Im normally on the "the cop went overboard" side of things, but in this case I dont think he did anything except maybe take too long to pull his sidearm.

You've gotta assume there was a warrant out on him or something

what a horrible police officer, he should have his badge removed.

Meh, i concede. I figure id be completely outraged if the cop got into any sort of trouble on this, and if he did then it would set a precedent for cops to be reluctant to pull a gun on someone thats shooting them...so from that kind of perspective this seems fine.

when you get fired at at point blank range, all bets are off. you are officially in self defense mode. i mean, come the fuck on, let's get serious.

The guy was carrying a .41 Magnum Smith & Wesson pistol.
It wasn't the safety that saved the officer, but the hammer falling on a previous round (according to news).
Also, the officer fired 14 shots, with 1 shot striking the individual in the back. He died at the scene.

wat.
I do not see this as being possible in a semi auto pistol.

I really don't know too much about guns, so I don't know how it happens or not. But in the news report it states that you can hear the hammer hitting an already fired round the moment the gun is first put in the officer's face.
"Davis pulled the trigger and the hammer fell on an empty round."

OMG...this is a pet peave of mine. CLIPS go in your hair, magazine are what you load into your automatic!
and yes the first round/trigger pull was on an already spent round. Revolvers are very reliable and don't malfunction for the most part.

I don't really understand why this is a thread.
Cop shoots guy who shot at him first. Guy dies. Is that supposed to be controversial?
