I was reading some posts in the other forums about making reads etc, and came across the post w/spoon and duece blue talking about chess and it made me think of this show I watched a while back. I think it was called mind control or something. Anyway, this dude would go into a party or whatever and talk to people and read their minds (guess numbers and shit) and basically hypnotize them on the spot. Anyway, so he gets like 9 great chess players together, I think there were some grand masters or grand champions or whatever the fuck they're called and sits them in a circle and explains that he's not a very good chess player, but he wants to play all of them at the same time and beat them just by reading thier thoughts and figuring out what they're trying to do. So he ends up beating like 4 great chess players and drawing with like two more. How'd he do it? (wait if you saw the show)

Yah, it's Derren Brown and he even explains the trick he pulled. He memorized the moves of each of the players and went around to circle having the top 8 players essentially playing against each other. (He observed 4 opening moves to initiate the match and then made his first move against their "opponents", memorized their responses, and played them against the first 4. So at anyone 1 time, 8 boards would be 4 pairs of nearly identical boards) then he only really had to win 1 game of chess against a junior champion. I'm too lazy to find a youtube link though...

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Thats it Derren Brown! The chess match is kinda boring to watch, but some of the other stuff is pretty cool. Like when he convinces the chick that red is blue or something like that and she can't find her car because its the wrong color. The Jedi mind shit.
