I'm setting up a poll here. Currently we can only have 3WRs 3RBs per team, but we need to start 5 per week. That is way to restrictive, in my opinion.
I am giving 3 options, vote for the one you would like.

IMHO, you can only start so many people, you only need 1 backup to cover bye weeks/injuries. And you DO have IR spots you can use if necessary. With 16 teams I think it's unfair for anyone to be sitting on 4 or 5 players at the same position. Again, just my opinion.

We have 5 starting rb/wr and we can only have 6 on our team? That seems a bit silly.
With 5 starters, there is an excellent chance that two of them will have the same bye week. In that case, we have to have someone with a bye week in our lineup?

I like it how it is. It is bad enough we have such a thin talent pool to work from...to take out even more available players just for them to be benched all year and unavailable to you takes away from the quite critical aspect of team management and being able to sign FA's that you are seeing potential in and having to let a guy loose and the risk of having them get picked up.
If we had less starting teams...yeah I could go for more bench spots...but now in this league.

I don't mind that it is so large...it will be a new experience and definitely put a bigger emphasis on the need for good scouting...which is why I think the bench spots we have currently are fine...not much to choose from to begin with, so the ability to horde players would truly be unneccessary.
The only reason to allow for more would perhaps be the fact that we are using a flex player...it would allow us to utilize them more or more of them...but adding in 2 extra bench spots for each is excessive. At most 1 if at all is my vote.

And again, you have IR spots that you can use. You have the spots that you need, if you take the time to work out your roster.

I like it the way it is. With teh talent pool so thin stretched across 14 teams, AND using a flex player, we need it so that teams can make adjustments later in the season.
Actually, I'd like to narrow the reserves slightly more, with each team only having one defense. I mean, when your starting defense is out for their bye week, you can just IR them for that week, so you can still have two defenses when you need it, but the way it's set up right now, everyone can sit on defenses all day long and have one on their bench just to deprive others of it.
Anyway, that's my take.
It's a new experience for me being in a league so large and being in a league with a flex player, so yeah. I won my 6 team league last year and came in second in my 12 team league last year, so this sounds like a new kind of format to conquer.
But back to the OP, I vote keep it the same, but destroy a defense bench spot. They can be IR'ed for their bye week, and it allows for people to use FA defenses; look how shallow the talent pool for defenses is now.

I'm confused. I thought we could only put people on IR who are actually injured or out.

No a player does not need to be on injured to be on IR.
As for defenses, if I'm not mistaken we have 16 teams and there are 32 teams in the NFL, thus everyone should be able to carry 2 defenses. I hear what you're saying though about stashing one on IR. I would hope people would not take advantage of that, but I guess you never know. I would really like everyone to have 2 defenses, because it adds to the strategy of playing the right defense on the right day. So I ask of everyone please do not abuse the system and carry a 3rd defense.

Yeah, but if you want to go to the strategy of playing the right defense on teh right day, it would apply even more when you would have to choose to IR your defense for one week and pick up a team facing a bad offense for one week.

I agree. And if it has the support of the league I'd change it. Not that I want to give up one of my defenses, but if we get a majority, consider it done. Do you guys feel like lobbyists or politicians, working for votes??? LOL.

settings are usually set before the draft occurs for a reason kinda like why the NFL conducts its combine before the draft rather than after. i'll say leave it.

I didn't see it was fucked up like that. Whatever.
I have 4 starting running backs and 5 starting WRs, I will do 2/3 for one trade with anyone that need starters... Hit me up or I'm just going to put them on IR.
