i wanted to avoid hijacking the conversation, but thought i'd throw something out that may be interesting...
was there EVER a bigger choke job than missing a penalty to put the championship away? how can either team be excited by that outcome? sure, the game was good until that moment, but why arent United fans a bit more bittersweet?
for the choke, i nominate Scott Hoch missing a 2 footer at the Masters in the 80's. or Greg Normans collapses in various big tourneys...obv, Masters included.
anyone?

That has to be the silliest question I've ever seen.
Utd hate Chelsea, Chelsea hate Utd. If Chelsea go down in such an embarrassing fashion as we did, that will only make Utd fans even happier.

Winnings all that matters, I don't think there'd be any bigger celebrations if the game was won in any other way, there's just more jokes to be made at John Terry's expense this way.
FWIW I don't think John Terry "choked", he slipped, simple as. Tired legs & tired mind & an absolutely sodden pitch & he was the tenth to take a penalty (lots of ruts where the other 9 had taken theirs) all conspired against him.
Steve Davis missing the final black for the 1985 world snooker championship is my nomination.

how were you not excited by that outcome it was amazingly tense! I think we all have problems about the fairness of penalties but you can't argue about the drama!

I hate Chelsea almost as much as I hate Liverpool and Torres.

Penalties are a nightmare end to the game, but it's the only way in which something like this can reasonably be decided. It took me until last night to really comprehend that we had won the game. Throughout Wednesday and Thursday morning I was walking around in a daze only understanding that we hadn't lost!
There's no real joy after the initial celebration more like an explosion of relief. I'm rewatching the game right now and I'm still sure that if Chelsea hadn't have gotten that pinball-slip for Lampard to score we would have won it in the 90 minutes.
Glory Glory Man United!!!!
