With humans its only really merciful if they want it. With animals they cant ask for it so we assume.

well if someones a vegetable that cant talk, how are you supposed to know what they want? unless they specifically stated when they were functional. the point is, euthanasia should be legalized.

I grew up with a birthmark that covers about 25 percent of my body, left face, arm etc. I used to hate how "ugly" I was, and how terribly people treated me.
I wish I had seen photos of this guy 15 years ago. Maybe would have put my "terrible life" into prespective.

After the puppy throwing video, i started reading the threads before clicking the link. I also ignore any thread started by Spoonitnow. My life has improved noticeably.
I'll take your guys' word for it about the guy in the video. It's disturbing.
I agree euthanasia should be legalized. Like someone really wants to live in constant pain with no hope of getting better, duh.

why would you fear death? You do not have to experience it. Being dead isn't scary at all. It's the thought that your existence will mainly be eternal nothingness that is so discomforting. If you aren't uncomfortable with death then you don't have a working brain.

I like being alive. It doesnt matter that I wont mind being dead because I wont like it. I like being alive more than ill like being dead so I dont particularly want to be in that state. I wont chose to be put in that state so I fear anything that would force me into it. My existence is precious to me. The thought of it ending therefore makes me feel uncomfortable.

Thats a ridiculous thing to say. Survival instinct is biologically programmed. If you ARE comfortable with death then you don't have a properly working brain. It should be pretty obvious which way this one swings. Go out and ask 20 people "are you comfortable with dying?". Id be very surprised if you were in the majority.

I dont get why so many people are saying the video is so gross. Its just a person who through no fault of his own happens to be the wrong shape. Is that really so disgusting?

yeah seriously, its pretty gross. the guy has about a cubic yard sized tumor on him.
since the topic of life and death came up, IMO, the reason people believe in heaven or past lifetimes/ future lifetimes, adds a comfort factor for them. they feel like oh well ill be okay since i went to church my whole life or will be born again, etc etc. more power to them i guess.

This doesn't seem well thought out. I'm not sure where you are going with this.
I have neither experienced nor have a recollection of being dead or unborn, but that doesn't make them equal. Where are you pulling this crap from? It is the unknown, how are you supposed to enjoy something that you haven't experienced? It is very common to have a fear of the unknown. But at the same time, I currently have life (as I know it). Death may be better or worse, but for now, I'd like to enjoy what I have.

Not that I recall. Whats your point? That if you dont enjoy something you should be happy about doing it? That doesnt seem to make much sense. Are you saying you enjoyed being "unborn"? To be honest im not really sure what youre trying to say here at all.
