I'm planning my first trip to Cancun with the gf and holy shit there are a billion hotels to choose from!
Anyone have any suggestions on where to stay/where not to stay?
We are probably going around the end of January/beginning of February, and I would like to stay somewhere that's reasonably priced.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

my wife and i spent a week at Dreams Cancun in the summer of 07. It's an all inclusive resort, which is always nice. Reasonably priced, maybe $2500ish for 5 nights 6 days + flights and everything. May be more in flights for you from Canadia and all, but should be similar.
The beaches there are gorgeous, the waters clear and blue, and the drinks are free (well, technically you paid for them up front, but its cool not having to pay for anything while you're there.
I'm pretty sure UG went just after i did.

Going with the girlfriend eh alright well I would recommend going into Playa Del Carmen during the day. It's kinda a cool little town filled with tons of shops and cheap venders along a sort of strip filled with cool bars etc. It has a bunch of sick clubs as well but I don't know if you're looking to do that with the gf. Its usually about a 20 minute cab from your resort depending where you stay. If you stay really close to cancun it might be too far away to be worth going.
