So I take the daughter out to breakfast this morning and go through the drive through at Burger King. Get me a large coffee as I hear it is pretty good. Now I get the coffee and it is damn good but I have 2 complaints.
1. The lids. They are the black lids like you get at any convience store with the raised part. Thats fine but they also have a damn tab on them you have to pop off before you can drink. As a feature of the lid thats fine, I really don't think actually do a whole lot as coffee will still spill out but whatever. The thing was it was rainy and overcast this morning and pretty dark in the car, I had no idea there was this stupid tab on it. Luckily I'm used to coffee always being so hot ya can't drink it for like an hour after you get it but that might have been a problem if I'm tipping the damn thing up and not getting anything until the fucking lid pops off and I have 3rd degree burns on my chin and penis. which leads to ...
2. Why in the fuck do they feel the need to fill it up 3 cm. from the top. I appreciate getting my moniey's worth but c'mon. It a styrofoam cup, you hold it and it compresses. Which means it is now 1 degree of tipping away from popping the lid off or overflowing. And in order to get the coffee to my lips I need to tip it or take the lid off and lap it like a dog. I decided to transfer it to my normal coffee mug and simply the amount I had to squeeze to get the lid of caused an overflow and piping hot coffee to land on upper thigh area ( smart enough to hold off to the side to avoid a direct crotch hit )
So BK I ask you this, give me an inch of room from the top and how about making the stupid tab a different color. Now I know about the tab so won't be fooled again but that damn thing is camouflaged good.
Now on coffee in general. I love good coffee, starbucks and all that shit. The Dunkin Doughnut coffee they sell in the stores is damn good as well. But i don't like spending 7 bucks a bag. Anybody give me a good way just to make a good pot of Folgers or something like that. I drink alot of coffee and never seem to get a great pot.
Every once in awhile I'll make one thats like" damn, thats great" but its like a fluke and I never do anything different when I make it so not sure why sometimes it just seems to magically be good.
I usually use 4 tablespoons for a 12 cup pot. I know on the stupid coffee cans it says like 1 tablespoon for cup that that seems like an insane amount of coffee in the filter....
Help anyone??

I love coffee, but for some reason I don't care for iced coffee. Which is strange because I'll drink regular coffee that has been sitting in my mug all day and is cold as ice.
oh, and BK has the iced coffee and my mom is addicted to it. She says it is the shit.

I bartended for a little while and I was taught a very good trick for brewing good coffee. Sprinkle a little bit of salt on the coffee grinds/grounds?? before you brew it. The salt will enhance the coffees flavor.
Hope this helps.

ive always liked iced coffee, but if you live in texas and drink coffee, its almost mandatory in the summer time.
also rocco ill try that salt trick, sounds like it could be good. fwiw, if you sprinkle some salt on cookies after you mold them but before you stick them in the oven it is also really tasty.

I use my grinder now to pulverize my weed for my one-hitter and I'm too cheap to buy another one. I just want someone who uses coffee in a can to tell me how to make a good pot. How many tablespoons etc.
I know I could have good coffee if I bought GOOD coffee or beans, but i want to know the easy way.
Jesus, alot of people just buy it in the cans and someone must know the secret measurment to get it to taste somewhat good...
I will try the salt thing though
I want that good to the last drop type feeling!!!

you have to use more coffee. When you use so little grounds, the water will soak the grinds so much you will actully make the coffee bitter. The coffee you buy makes a difference too. People spend $2++ on a cup of coffee but wont buy the $14 can of coffee they're too cheap, they buy "FOLGERS"
Get real cream, 18% and make real coffee. lastly, the coffee pot makes a difference. I have a Bunn, it stores the water in it so when I pour more, I don't have to wait for it to boil, my coffee starts immediately. The water is hotter and brews a better coffee. Oh yea, try bottled water or filtered at least. Your just heating pool water with all that chlorine and pouring into you coffee.
Tim Hortons FTW!!

More coffee, but maybe a coarser grind. A fine grind will lead to bitter coffee, fo sho.

As far as High Stakes cash games go, I think Hellmuth is really kind of out of his league and actually pretty weak against other Pro players like; Negraneu, Brunson SR, Brunson JR, Deeb, Farha, Booth, Esfandiari, Harman, Chan, and other Cash Game Pro's.
Sorry for the thread jack folks.

Mmmm! Goddamn, Jimmie! This is some serious gourmet shit! Usually, me and Vince would be happy with some freeze-dried Taster's Choice right, but he springs this serious GOURMET shit on us!
1) Buy a good coffee maker, or learn how to use a french press. By good I mean like a retail $80 or so. Stainless steel carafe will keep your shit nice and hot.
2) Use filtered water
3) Buy decent filters. You can buy a 50 pack of no name for 99c or get a 50 pack of melita for 2.50. I can tell the difference. Its a couple cents more per brew.
4) Buy whole coffee beans. I buy mine at costco. its a 2.5 pound bag for about half of what it costs at starbucks. Its in the starbucks bag. It is nice shit.
5) When it comes to brewing, in the morning I hate to have a really strong bitter coffee with breakfast. If i have 6 cups of water in the tank, I use 5 leveled scoops of coffee.
6) Grinder. I use a magic bullet, I like it, works well. Grinds it pretty fine and I find that all the coffee goodness is extracted best that way.
7) Keep your unused beans in an airtight jar or freezer. I keep mine frozen, it preserves them longer. It might hurt the taste but i have no jars yet. It is better than leaving a big bag with an elastic on it for 2 months (thats how long a bag will usually last just me)
