So I want to build a desk because I don't want to drop $1k and I want it to be tight. This is what I'm thinking about starting with.

I'm going to make the boxes somewhat modular so they fit together, so if I ever want to move it I can take it apart into pieces. This will also allow me to add doors, or sliding drawers. I'm also planning on adding a modular top in the future (obv not modeled yet)
Here's a model of my room for reference. I'm in the basement so the long dimension is 30 ft (9 m)

Any thoughts/comments/ideas welcome.

no, it's a house. There is one big bedroom, which is way smaller. It's kinda like we have two seperate living spaces with a shared kitchen/bathroom.
Also, my current desk is the card table in the corner, also for reference.

officemax has nice modular furniture.
www.officemax.com (i think)
get some modular furniture, looks decent, easy to put together (or u can have them do it, which i highly recommend), and isn't too expensive.
or u can just build it yourself but that seems very inefficient to me.

Here's a table. It's $180. I consider that expensive.

Yeah i spent 80 dollars on my IKEA desk....i punched a hole in the first one so i ordered another one online.
Seems way easier than building one and may even be cheaper.

I built my own. I was going to go with the L shape but decided against it, its really unecessary I just didnt need the extra leg.
Build in simple sliding drawers. Build it deeper and add a shelf. Use plywood (i actually used OSB which was like $6 for an 8x4 sheet) and stick a veneer on top.

It's 2 1/2 feet deep. It's just like 6 feet long.
I'm still debating the top. I might buy a nicer hard wood and stain it, not sure.

3/4" plywood > OSB > 1/2" plywood for this purpose.

mine is pretty much just a metal frame, 4 legs and a slab of veneered pressboard. I hate drawers because they just become contained messes for me. But these desks are modular, so you can add on stuff on top or drawers below and whatnot. I really like it because it is nice and deep, about a yard deep I believe.

uhhh, wat?
for the right handed mouse user, stroking in the 21st century should be done with the left hand, hence having the lube on the left, thus the hand on the mouse never comes in contact with the bottle

A real fwapping pro would have a Fleshlight clamped to his desk so no hands would be needed at all, lol.
