Brag: I got another boy! Holy Crap! Amazing, amazing.
Beat: It's so depressing to be the fattest and least attractive member of one's own family. (see pic)
Variance: The baby came 10 days late so I enjoyed a decent amount of degenerate behavior after finishing my thesis! Plus the hours preceding the wife going into labor I happened to be playing cards before, won 6 BIs at 25NL, jumped back up to 50NL and won 5 more BIs there. 15 minutes after shutting down for the night, the wife's water broke and we were off and running to the hospital!

It's funny, as long as she never sees it. She's thinner right after than my wife 3 years later. how long does prgnancy weight take to lose anyway??

I just told her about the nice comments. I figured you were joking, but I still didn't tell her about your comment; you'd have to be insane to tell a woman she looks pudgy ever.. but there is nothing closer to an emotional nightmare than a woman that just had a kid.
Owen (new one) is doing fine though he is getting "phototherapy" because of a little jaundice. It should be cleared up soon.

Kingnat, almost all babies suffer from a little jaundice - my friends had a baby 2 weeks ago, the little one had a day or two of phototherapy and he couldn't be healthier.

but these are the bad lbs to lose :'(
Srsly, I really really look forward to having kids and I really really dread having kids.
pros: kids are fun, wifes tits turn into massive plump tigg-o-bitties
cons: kids are a huge responsibility, theyll suck the life outta those tigg-o-bitties faster then a.. um.. vaccuum sucks dirt? or something like that..

i found the hormones to go crazy about 3 months
the horny part can be at any time, but towards the end they feel large and unattractive and notice every time you look at a chick that is smaller than them
so i think they are trying to exhaust the sperm supply

I've heard this as well, but my wife is not a pleasant pregnant women. In fact, for the first 4 months and last 2 months she had EXTREMELY bad heartburn and indigestion... I mean eating a piece of bread made her throat burn. Good times.
The numbers (whatever they are) are low enough that the new kid no longer needs the fancy blue light.
Also....
Brag: I defended my PhD Thesis this morning and passed! Can I get a ?
Honestly I'm so fucking tired I can barely speak... but I'm off for two days to the College World Series!!

The only thing that sucks bigger balls than writing one's thesis is doing revisions. It may not sound that bad, but ripping up chunks and adding new text to something you never wanted to see again is god awful.
Life update: Mom and new baby are doing great, 3 yo is getting pretty pissed at new baby and mom for lack of attention. Although I don't think I get any father o' the year award, taking the elder son to the CWS for a couple days was a blast. Went to the Zoo, and say the UC-Irvine late-game comeback over ASU on Tuesday which was awesome.
1. must finish revisions by friday
2. moving to muh-fuggin' Maine in less than 2 weeks :barf:

Congratz! Best of luck with the birth and what not. I would suggest being as familiar with all your possible options for birth and labor as you (or more importantly) your wife can be. It's good to know what she wants to do well ahead of time because in the heat of the moment all sorts of crazy stuff can come out of her mouht.

I worried a lot about this with my first kid, and honestly.. until they bust out that first word or you catch them mimicking what you say, you don't really need to worry about it. Swearing is a highly useful stress reliever and completely necessary until about 4 months of age.
