Do we have any other bowlers here? (No.. Wii bowling does not count)

I'm still on a high from a couple recent personal bests in the last two days, and wanted to see if I had any competition here!

brag:
High Game on Sunday: 279 (only missed a strike in 1 frame, stupid 9 pin)
High Series on Monday: 665 (203, 225, 237)
Current League Average: ~180

beat:
And all of this on a 20 year old hand-me-down ball affectionately known as the Purple Blob.
Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

When I did bowl in high school it was just for fun and I averaged I think 140, probably haven't broke 120 in like 4 years though. I think My high game is a high 180 or low 190.

I should be better my grandpa was semi pro like sponsored and shit back in the day. He bowled a 300 maybe 3 years ago at the age of 80 I can only hope I am still that awesome at 80.

Ha, I'm the Varsity Bowling Coach at my high school.

When I was 14, I was ranked 97th nationally in the 12-15 age bracket. I had a 207 average back then. Yes, average.

I think the way they came up with "97th" was some series I had at a state tournament.

High game = 269
High Series = 780

I stopped bowling competitively when I was 14 when I chose to play baseball instead. I figured I could bowl the rest of my life but my baseball window was pretty small. I played baseball through college.

I still beat the piss out of all of my kids, except for a senior last year that was second in the state of Kansas for average (216). He's gone now so I can talk as much shit as I want.

P.S. Bowling has taken off here in Kansas...It's an actual Varsity sport, with 28 of the 32 "6A" schools having bowling teams.

My high game is like 264ish. High series is 668 I think, its in the 660s that for sure. My average two years ago was 174 when I was on a league. Now I'm in college and I don't bowl very often . I would argue that bowling is one of the best sports. You can drink when you bowl which is huge. You can be crappy at it and still be on a team and have fun. You only bowl like 3 hours a week so it doesn't take up a huge chunk of your time. It doesn't cost much and when you go out with friends/on dates you look like a stud if your good. My college offers a bowling course which I am gonna take before I graduate. Basically bowling is the one team sport that I didn't quite after the first or second year.

College credit to fucking BOWL, do it! One of my most favoritest classes of all times.

I ended class with a 196 average. First half I averaged 178, second half a 214, it took me a little while to warm up because I hadn't bowled in so long.....

I'm a bowler from way back. I gave up in 1996 as everyone who bowled was either a complete tool or fat lesbian. I couldn't handle it...haha.

I won some decent tournaments and made enough money out of it to make my poor university life stlye not so poor.

I loved my blue hammer.

High Game: 300
Average: 204

Awesome.

I just bought my first ball (pics coming soon), as my purple blob was given to me. Goals are to get the elusive 300, and a 700 series...

Nice job Kits with the perfect game, I'm jealous! It's weird, I have a Nick Pappas in my office right now...Though I don't imagine he was ever in Australia...

UG, Very nice series, and at 14?? wow. So close to an 800, I can only dream of that right now. at least a 700 is within reach for me I think...

Get back into it animal chin! Beer and bowling, and sports on the tv behind ya, great times.

ProZach, PRACTICE... if ya want to beat your grandpa that is...

jyms? umm... not too bad for 2 games?
Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

What's funny is I had a kid that bowled a 300 after bowling for only FOUR MONTHS last year. He was one of only two bowlers in the state of Kansas to do that during the high school season. He got on a roll, literally. 150, 169, 300 for a series of 619, lol.

I'm pretty damn good but haven't rolled a 300 yet, and this kid does it after four months...

(The kid is a phenomenal athlete, though, two-time first-team All-State in baseball, he's a senior this year)

For some reason, this makes me sad... a 619 series with a 300 game? seriously wow. I don't know how I'd handle the emotional swing that that kind of series would have on my game...

OK, so who puts spin on the ball and who is a straight baller?
Straight baller and I average probably about 125-130 on the occasional guys night out. High game was like ~180. I have a number of turkeys to my name though. Turkeys are like my leveling fistpump stackjobs. I still keep track.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

I've never met a "straight baller" that had an average > 150, they just can't get a good enough angle on the pocket for consistent strikes imo, there isn't enough wiggle room when you have to go straight at it.

With my purple ball, I'm a down-n-in bowler, i.e. I throw my ball down the right-side gutter, and hook into the pocket. With my new ball, I hope to find some versatility, and be able to really find some interesting new across-the-lane attack angles.

You have to hook the ball if you want to shoot consistently high scores. The newer balls seem to take a lot of the effort away from requiring lots of revolutions to get some big 'pin action', so you can get away with a a down and in type approach

Chris - 700 series aren't that difficult. You'll sometimes find really REALLY nice lane conditions that help and if you bowl with just you on a lane you can really get into a zone and string together some big games. My highest series was about 760 odd.

I'm getting all nostalgic....might have to head out on the weekend for a game!

I used to bowl a lot with friends, but usually it just turned into a reason to get drunk.

Bowling is awesome imo.
