Ok - I am gonna get it.
I have the option of getting 2 packages.
One is for $13 a month and has a downstream of 384 kbps to 1.5 Mbps and an upsteam of 128-384 kbps.
The other is for $18 a month and has a downstream of 1.5-3 Mbps and an upstream of 384-512 kbps.
I have no idea what any of this means.
All I want is a faster connection and the ability to use Vent.
Will the $13 a month do that for me?

I'd go with the higher one. It's worth $5.
Downstream = "how fast can I download." Faster = better.
Upstream = how fast can I push data to someone else. You'll get better sound quality with VoIP using a higher upstream.

for that little of a price difference go with the $18/faster connection. In Boston, the price difference is more substantial (if I remember correctly).

If you ever get into downloading music or movies you will be way better suited with the faster package, if its just vent and poker the cheaper package is all you need.

Congrats. I think it is all about what you plan on doing. If you are just playing poker and conversing in vent then I don't think it really matters which one you go with.

I didn't tell my wife. But that really wasnt the issue. I'll pay for it out of my bankroll.

wtf... man Im getting so ripped off on this dsl plan from way backwhen... its slow, it drops all the time, and it costs me like 50$ a month for a package about as good as the 13$ one you mentioned, WTF!? I def need to find a new plan... def..
