Damn, black widows... that's nuts. I'm really glad I don't have to deal with those. I really have no advice at all just wanted to say damn that sucks.

Why does everyone hate spiders so much? I hate insects and useless bugs more than spiders, and spiders eat them for me, so I'm cool with them.

I live in a basement so I get tons of spiders here. Whenever I find one, I catch it in a box and throw it outside. It takes a minute, there's no mess to clean, and it lets it live so that it can eat more mosquitoes. Win win for everyone ...

I had a HUGE spider problem at my house this summer D: . There were hundreds of them on our porch/siding/garage..we tried using different sprays and stuff but it didnt do anything. Eventually we ended up having to call a pest control guy to spray once they started coming in the house.
As far as the ones in the house...we set up some sticky glue traps on the floor near the walls and crack and that worked really well (trapped a bunch of those mfers). Another thing you can use is something called and an osage orange/hedge apple. You just put them in a corner in every room and they supposedly works well at repelling insects/spiders (dont know how effectively but it seemed to work well when i used to live in the basement at my parents house) and they are in season right now so they're pretty easy to find. We def didnt have any other bug problems while we were spider infested lol..but if you have black widows that sux Make sure your place is verry clean with no places for them to hide in cardboard boxes/papers/closets, and vacuum regularly. Maybe use some spray like "home defense" on your doors/windows/cracks. If all else fails just set off a bug bomb or call a pest guy for a quick fix

Nope but my cousin lives on the edge of a rainforest in Australia and they have two house snakes (yep, they literally roam free around the house) for the purposes of taking care of spiders and any other stuff that's potentially lethal.

I could probably find out the type of snake if you're interested!

How old is this house? Are there any air spaces around the foundation that might allow them in? You might need to spray foam around suspect areas of the house.
