I am looking to buy a laptop to use mainly to play poker on. Looking for something with decent battery life (3 hours) good screen size (i dont know if they even have laptops with resolution big enough to 4 table), 1GB memory. I would also like to be able to watch DVD's on it occasionaly. Any suggestions for this? Or what is a suitable price range for something in this category.

thanks guys

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (for work). Screen resolution goes up beyond 1600x1200 (minimun needed to 4 table without overlap). It has 1gb of memory. I didn't buy it or spec it out so I don't know all the extras on it, but it 4 tables well, and you can hook an additional monitor on it.

Make sure your graphic card can run an extra monitor at 1600x1200, you may want to move beyond 4 tables some day. (I just did )

You can get coupons on bensbargains.net regularly. I am sure you can find less expensive laptops that work else where.

What about the Dell Inspiron E1705:
17 inch Ultra SharpTM WUXGA with TrueLifeTM
Native Resolution 1920 x 1200 pixels

You should be able to 4 table that without overlap right?
Never used one, just noticed the good resolution once.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

there are a buncha companies taht advertise in PC GAMER (I havent played in a pc game in nearly a year, yet I still read this magazine monthly for some reason..) And they have laptops with 19" monitors now!!! The res isnt as good as the 17" ones though, and you would get some overlap. However remember that you dont need 1600x1200 to 4 table anymore, atleast not on stars and party(you can resize tables at these sites now). However if yo uwant to be able to quad at other sites without overlap 17" is the way to go. Widowpc.com , prostargaming.com, vigorgamingpc.com all have 17" 1900x1200 laptops, and probably have better prices / options then dell. Also a laptop that says "XPS" on it is known to be worth over 2 grand, Id much prefer to just get a laptop thats a little more mellow on the outside, or atleast doesnt have xps (read: STEAL ME!!!) written on it in big letters.

I did some research on this, and the Dell is definitaly one of the best poker laptops. It depends what you want in a system. I suggest shopping cnet.com reviews.

Ordered it last night and got a sweeeeet deal. I went with the E1705 from dell with the following upgrades.

Duo Core processor 1.66 GHz
WUXGA+ 17" screen (1920x1200 resolution!)
1 GB memory
80 G Hard drive
TV Tuner card
256 ATI video card
Intel Internal wireless pro (uses less battery life)
3 year at home service
2 year McCafee Virus, Firewall, and spyware subscription

Regularly priced this system comes to just below $2,200 but the dude at Dell hooked me up at exactley $1,200! I cant wait to quad table with no overlap next to the pool!!

about $250. The McCafee i dont really care about but i wanted the service. All the laptops ive previously owned seemed to starting acting up after 1.5 to 2 years. And i figure with many hours of play sitting next to the pool pretty much a good idea to have an extended warranty to cover everything.

I recently bought a Dell XPS m1710 for 22000kr ~ $3000.

Its a lot better for games than the Inspiron with its Geforce 7900GTX Graphics card.

The only game you should be concentrating on is poker!

Yeah XPS systems are sweet if you are a gamer. Never really got into them myself.
